We found something in Walmart the other day, called a Scribblet. it's a little kid's toy, basically an etch-a-sketch type slate, but it's a keychain, and the stylus is attached with a string, and you have to actually erase it with the slidey thing, it doesn't erase by shaking...we've found it's really helpful as an id badge...

you can see it there, and I think buy it...but you could probably find it on walmart.com, since that's where i found it(in the store)...it's made by Little Tikes, and it's like 2-3 dollars...

Ideas

Hello all. :)

I was thinking the other day about starting a sort of registry for system names. I haven't seen any two systems with the same name yet, but it might be a good idea to have a regularly updated list somewhere, to try to prevent this from happening. Not that it would be a disaster if two systems had the same system name, but it would be good for systems looking for a new name--partially to give ideas but mostly so they know which ones to avoid. Does anyone think this would be a good idea? If so, does anyone have a website they could host it on? If not, I probably can; I'm just not very computer literate so if someone more capable can do this, everyone would be better off.

Also, I've been longing for some sort of subtle symbol to wear out in public to identify ourselves as multiple. Like the rainbow used by the gay community, or the parrot sometimes used by the poly community. Something like a pin of a winged toaster. ;) I know ideas for a universal symbol of multiplicity have been batted back and forth for a long time; I'd like to actually get something started that can be worn by all of us daily, a kind of badge of pride. What do you think?

some peoples here was talking about multple jewlery before.
Our friend [livejournal.com profile] memevector (who does normally make thease activist badges) did make us a birthday presnt of some badges with all our diffrent user icons on. So mine is like this picture of me and [livejournal.com profile] judiff's is like her bunny and the other peopels does have theres too (except the other little girl (locket) cos she doesn't have a journal cos she is all scraed of computers, now she is sulking a bit cos she does want a badge but i think she should have treid to use the computers already - she is silly sometimes).
So the person who is out can wear they badge to show they is out. Or put a mixture of badges if we is being mixed up. And the peoples that know us know who is out. But people that does not know cos we think they would not understand do only see a badge with a picture they not understand on it.
I is liking the badges. Maybe other peoples want to make something like them.

ok i am gonna annoy the ops a bit no doubt :P but in the earlier thread about badges i expressed interested in making some, and that is still going through my mind, so a couple of ideas have been generated that currently need input, and more ideas and churning through the works

Nametags

I'm really excited today. I was at a convention about a month ago, and saw a few people with LED nametags on. It was simple, but effective and awesome. I also made a post on our journal a while ago linking to this story by Nikolai Kingsley, which is set in the future, and where one of the main characters is a multiple who wears a name badge that changes every time ei switches.

I just think that's the coolest thing ever.

So I was talking to a close friend of mine today, who happens to be very good with computers and electronics (she owns her own internet company, for god's sake,) and she offered to make us a nametag like that! Only (unlike the currently-available LED nametags) hers would have a huge number of presets that could be easily switched between, and might even use OLED or a color LCD screen so that graphic-text or colored fonts could be used, instead of single-to-tri-color lettering. It depends on what evolves from her tinkering... but I know the end result will be cool.

I mean, seriously, that would be the greatest thing ever if whoever was front at the time wanted their name recognized by the people around them without having to go out of their way to state it... Either around people the system was open about their multiplicity with or just in an anonymous setting. I bet it would help in multiple support groups and things like that, too... A subtle way to announce a switch.

I just had to share the coolness of that :)

We've been discussing ideas for a multiplicity symbol, and I came up with the following:

Please keep in mind this is a very rough draft that I did in MS Paint in about 5 minutes XD

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Hello all, my name is Salem, and I am very much stuck alone in my own head. (there's crickets sometimes, but only really just myself.)

My beloved bride, whom I wed in a mere 3 months from now, (blackwing_angel) exsists in a system, and I thought being here might help me understand that and learn to cope with her metaphysical quirks, since she's taking the time to adapt to my own.

I was readign through some psots beforeI joined, and saw someone mention a multiples system symbol, like the TG symbol or the gay rainbow.

Neat idea, might give the community a bit more national unity and recognition if it became widespread. Or, ya know, just look cool. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v513/only_for_him/MultiplesEye.jpg submitted for your perusal. My skills at art are slim in this area, so if it's liked and someone else wnats to redo it better, please, go right ahead and do so.

We may get flamed for this, but we find it funny.

Before regaining internet access, the significant other's system and ours had been seeking a local support group for multiples to get advice from. We never found one, but we started wondering what you would do for name tags if such a group did exist. The SO made a physical mock up, and we've drawn it out. See icon.
