Introduction post:

We are a system that might have been a system without the events of our child hood, but we really don’t know if we were or not. We generally work well together, although we do have our chaotic times. Most of us feel that it is polite to make an intro post when we think we will be actively responding to or posting in a community.

We have a “scorecard” written up for our close friends and family. We wrote it because we have a lot of folks who locked themselves in ice or were locked in ice by others that are waking up now. Our family (both internal and external) joked that they needed a scorecard to keep up with all the changes. Most of us liked the idea so it got written up last week. It lists names, and likes and dislikes as well as listing out the things that will trigger and things that will calm.

Our main frontrunner has known about us for better than 15 years, once we found a therapist who would help us rather than try to kill us we got internal communications set up. She helped us set up the internal lines of communication, and helped us figure out how to expand it because she knew that there were others she hadn’t seen or spoken with who would cause problems if we had a static system. Some of us have always known we are many.

Currently we are sealing with lots of folks coming out of ice at once, and trying to teach al of them how to use the internal message system is an adventure. Lots of the ones waking up right now are littles, their dreams are leaking over when they sleep. The body isn’t getting much rest these days; hopefully it will get better soon. If we can slow the tidal wave of new ones waking we won’t feel so overwhelmed.

If folks are interested in our back-story and history we have some open posts in our journal. They are under the multiplicity tag.

So quite a while ago, we 'came out' to each other, learned how to front independently, had some major coping issues at first. one problem our natural communication method caused (we access each others memories) is we had memories of being someone that could do things that we couldn't necessarily do. for example, Tia 'remembered' knowing calculus, and remembered doing very well on calc quizzes, but under the new rules, she'd go to class, feel good, put pen to paper, and have no clue what she was doing. we have this problem all over the place with programming, teching (our major/profession) and such.

well when we figured out this was the way of things, we took a major slowdown, got on disability, and took some time getting used to our new rules.
in like, march we got out of that, and started working a pretty easy job that any of us could handle. steering clear of anything technical or stressful for a while. (we've actually been a bit more responsible then we were before, since we seem to have licked depression pretty solidly)

well were alot more practiced at this teamwork stuff, we've pulled off a shareware project or two, and were ready to see if we put our new controlled switching skilz to the test. (that and financial aid thinks its time to either take a class or start paying our loan) so viola! we start our first day of class tomorrow.

weve heard some advice about getting an overlay'ey thing working for crossing skills, but we just don't mix well at all. so our approach is to get myself (candy), lovecry, and synch (if he bothers to get involved) each independantly solid on the material. and Tia switching out, since she suuux at math, but defaces easily enough.

anyways, if anyones got any spiffy advice, please please. otherwise, wish us luck! Im personally pretty amped about it! wooo!

Edit: Due to high demand, I'm going to make another post later, offering DVD-R copies of the series to any takers. It'll be at cost, so we're talking $5-$10 at most, and I'll throw in the necessary media players on the DVD to make sure you can watch. Anyway, it might be a while, since my sys is relocating some 2,000 miles in the next few days, but you'll be kept up to date!

Hey hey, haven't posted in a long time, though I've been checking in a lot. For anyone who's forgotten, my name's Ellany, and I'm executor of my system. We hold elections for the role every several years. (The body's age is currently 21.) There are four primaries in our system, with others who are only beginning to become conscious. We have been consciously multiple since the body being 18, although it's been very obvious since long before that. Still, it feels like we're barely starting to explore. We've had soulbonds attach themselevs to us, have had others in the system show themselves, have had splits and merges, and so on. You know, the daily grind.

Bio. We absolutely love having the "4forall" pizza from Pizza Hut, since there are four of us who are mainly out and so we can each get a type of pizza that we like. I met Jem from [livejournal.com profile] our_haven some time ago (she lives in my area), and everyone in Haven has been very helpful to us. For the longest time, our system's been in "slumber", and we had a healer (an external, just to define) come and see what was wrong and she talked about some sort of barrier being erected by an alien force that had been preventing switching. No idea what that was about, but clearly, it's been crumbling recently. Yay for togetherness! That was a dark several months.

Anyway! Re-introduction over. I wanted to share something with you all. ^^ I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before, but earlier this year an anime named Mahoraba: Heartful Days was released. I wanted to post about it immediately, but I decided to wait and see if it would be any good. A few weeks ago, the final episode (an hour-long special) was released, and I can finally say that it is most definitely worth watching, and all of us here have gotten something out of it.

What is it, then? It's basically a Japanese animated series focusing around a girl who is multiple and the boy who loves her. The members of the system are somewhat typical, but I didn't care, it was just cool to see such things portrayed in a decent light for once. Never is it preachy, nor does it seem bad, nor does it seem like any sort of commentary at all. It's just how it is. It is not taken as being completely "normal", but it is taken realistically instead of being overplayed, and I found it to be a pretty close depiction of reality. There are light integration themes, and themes that it sourced from trauma, which made me go "ugh", but they only come up during the last half hour of the 12+ hours of the series' running time, and they are handled in a way that didn't offend or annoy or bother me in the least. (And I'm as anti all-of-that as you can get.)

All in all, it was surprising to find a show that addressed the subject so well, constantly making us think "Yep, that's just like us!", and even covering some far more obscure things, such as the nothingness experienced when nobody's fronting, issues with someone going into hiding and having to be coaxed out, and so on. All while keeping a happy, light-hearted, innocent flair. It's still hard to comprehend that there exists a 26-episode series, an entire season in other words, focusing entirely on such a subject! Of course, there's a lot more to the story, involving everyone who are friends to the girl, and how their lives go. There is friendship, family togetherness, love, and all sorts of things. There's far more to it than just the synopsis covers, in fact what I've written about is a small part of it, but I wanted to mention what's relevant. About the only problem I've found with the show is that it's pretty slow - in fact, if you do watch it to try it out, watch the first two at the very least, because you won't get the full effect of the coolness otherwise.

Anyway, my work here is done. ^^; Hope that there hasn't been a giant discussion about this already or something. Oh yeah, and I made a composite image of some of the main "personalities" involved in the story, which I've inlined underneath the LJ-cut below.
