Hi...

Thanks for having us...

We are a multiple household.  There are over 100 us and counting.  We are victims of SRA, and other severe forms of child abuse.  We have many different types of insiders... male, female, animal, spirit, and others.  It wasn't until recently we learned the terms 'walk-ins' and 'soulbound' for particular members.  We have members we refer to as age-sliders, they can change their age.  We certainly have many of those.  We live with 3 friends and our fiance... and 7 cats.  It is difficult, but with understanding people, it makes life a bit easier.  We try so hard to maintain our "front" to avoid as much confusion as possible.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.  Several of us are in graduate school to become an LPC  (licensed professional counselor).  It is very scary, but we feel we have a lot to give back to the community, and hope to help others that have been through trauma and abuse.

So that's all for now...

Today in my abnormal psych class we went over dissociative disorders with a focus on DID. My professor used to work as a clinical psychologist for 20-some years, and to support the idea that multiples are extremely rare he mentioned that he had never met one in his entire career.

So I'm wondering... should we prove him wrong? It was so tempting to just jump up in class and be like, "Not true! You know ONE multiple!" but of course I didn't. I was thinking of going about it in a more discreet way, perhaps asking him if he'd like to meet a multiple. Hmm.

Any suggestions?

Also in class we were going to watch the video "Mind of a Murderer" about a serial killer who tried to get off on insanity by saying he was a multiple. The tape didn't work so we didn't watch it, but it annoyed me that of all views of MPD/DID to see in a video it'd be THAT one. Of course this guy was proved to have been making it all up to get out of jail so he wasn't actually a multiple, but still. Discussing multiplicity in the context of murder doesn't lead to positive opinions =/ (Although my professor clearly understood that one has nothing to do with the other and the tape was to show how it could be faked, who knows what the other students picked up from that.)

Ok so no one here is probably interested but I thought I would post it here

I have finished, I don’t care if it still probably needs work, there is only so much reworking a girl can do before her brain goes *splat*

The end result 5900 words(exactly), that’s 35 pages including Reference List and interview transcript. It is done, kaput, over.. I will not listen to the little voice that thinks it is crap and I will fail

This pointless ramble can be blamed on brain splatage

I just transferred to a new/old college. Meaning, I've gone there before, but I'm in a new department. I'm a photography major, for those who want to know.

So far, two of my classes have mentioned plurality. Like, multiplicity. We were just given a passage written by Jorge Luis Borges, which sounds suspiciously like a plural writing about another in his system. It's dramatic, but he clearly states that there's "another Borges" within him, who is responsible for the literature he creates.

Exact quote from Borges: ...the stone eternally wants to be a stone and the tiger a tiger. I shall remain in Borges, not in myself (if it is true that I am someone), but I recognize myself less in the books than in many others or in the laborious strumming of a guitar. Years ago, I tried to free myself from him and went from the mythologies of the suburbs to the games of time and infinity, but those games belong to Borges now and I shall have to imagine other things. Thus my life is a flight and I lose everything and everything belongs to oblivion, or to him. I do not know which of us has written this page.

It's the last line that gets me. The two of us who front are constantly blending (heh, new term for me), and writing for each other, and there have been times that we weren't immediately sure who was speaking or writing. So, the passage stuck out to me for that very reason.

Discussion on this passage is supposed to follow in one of my studios. But, besides that point, we've discussed plurality before in my classes, as a supported method of creation. In other words, they don't care if we're loony*, and in fact, they want discussion on how loony* we are. For this, I'm really, actually pretty greatful, because it gives me a RL community where we'd be supported. I'm pretty god damned tired of having the internet as my only outlet.

This leads me to my question: How many of you are artists or musicians or "creative people"? I'm curious to see if there's a prevalence of right brained people who are also multiple.

*Disclaimer: use of the term "loony" is for humor purposes, only and need not be taken in offense.
