This is Ada for the Grey Children.

I just wanted to thank everyone that offered their support and suggestions to us in regards to the System Restructuring problem we've been having. It's true that there's a lot of confusion and grief going on over the loss and change.

Change can be such a very overwhelming thing.

We valued greatly anyone that shared their personal experiences with us or offered to chat with us about the problem. We received a lot of really insightful information.

We're working on finding that "Center" identity right now that's going to help us cooperate and coexist. It's already coming along.

Thank you so much.

Ada, grateful.

Someone posted this on another board I post on... why does it seem that almost every system has at least one member who is autistic?

So a general question I had from a more specific post further down.

How do y'all handle work, as systems? Our style has varied in the past but over the last 5-6 years or so we have developed a team approach. We're not a very hierarchical system anyway - no one's "in charge" - so that suits our style.

Basically how it works is that at least five of the adults in the system can handle the basics of our job and so we use to-do lists to make sure that it's clear where each task is at. Having said that though we each have aspects that we enjoy more, or are more skilled at, and in a normal week we each sort of do that part. It's been surprising to me at times (being the most career oriented, probably) to see how willing people are to try out things and participate in our work life.

In the past people have also had their own jobs on the side, like teaching a class on Saturdays. We all agreed to support those things and again, took a team approach - just kind of rotated who the leader of the team was, I guess, although we never expressed it that way.

Lots of us have dreams of different work and we're still working out how to give each person a chance at their own thing, supported by the rest of us in much the same way.

What's your experience?

Thank you

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded and are willing to help. I was wrong about the due date, It is June 23rd...not the 10th. I was thinking it was because it is actually the 10th week of class. That's where the 10 came from. Sorry...

My teacher said I could do this anyway I wanted to. I was thinking of doing a factual, meaning what the professionals say it is, and then speak about people who are actually Plural. I do not know. This is the first time I have had to do something like this since I was in high school, over 10 years ago.

If anyone has any ideas, that would great.

I just don't know how to ask my questions...I don't want to be offensive or anything....There is so much to know and learn that it is almost daunting. Like my Husband, he doesn't have a higherarchy(sp?) like most other's that I have spoken to. Is that normal? Should he have one?

I have to figure out what I want to focus on...and that's hard. So please bear with me as I fumble through this.

This is not just for class though...it is for me and my husband as well. To help bring understanding to us, to help prepare us if something else may happen in the system.

Feel free to friend me or msg me, info is in my bio....I am at school right now, otherwise I would be adding and talking to everyone who is willing to help.

EDIT:
Thank you again everyone.
I did not expect to get so many comments.
I just hope noone is offended.
Also everything that has been said and debated here has been real helpful. I am working on some questions to post, or send via whatever.....It will take me a small amount of time to do it....

Brain doesn't always want to focus on what I want it to, and it tends to wander... But I really appreciate everything everyone has said and done so far....
