Insomnia inspired question.
Apr. 8th, 2004 02:24 pmDo people ever get insomnia or bad headaches when sharing front with another person, who happens too be agitated? We have been trying to fall asleep for the last 2 hours and I was exhausted from the start. She is also stuck too close to the front and will probably stay stuck till next we sleep. Given that the person in question will be agitated for a while longer, is there anything we can do to help us sleep? Any advice that doesn’t involve sleeping pills or alcohol would be appreciated. I have used one of each this week and make a point of not using either too often. Thanks,

Date: 2004-04-08 02:38 pm (UTC)We also like hot baths before bed if people are agitated. If we turn out the lights and light a candle and relax in the bath it usually helps the system sort itself out for bedtime.
Sometimes though, We just end up staying awake until whoever is finished doing what is important to them. I try to make deals with them like, "If We stay up 'til 3:00 am and only get 4 hours of sleep, you have to promise to help with work tomorrow so We get a nap."
Best of luck to all of you.

Date: 2004-04-08 04:47 pm (UTC)recently discovered a way to be CC with 3 of us at once ... 2 are totally up front, with one "driving" & the other giving instructions or just taking over the hands if need be to do something (as one of our fronters has a broken limb & is a slider that is currently 6) & the third just far enough behind the other two to watch & not interact w/the outside.
hope that makes sense.

Date: 2004-04-08 07:03 pm (UTC)the last two don't work for us, but they might for you? I suppose this is sorta late, isn't it...?
Um, lesse, we have catnip tea that helps us get tired as well, found it at some health food store. Dispite being an insomniac, we don't really have any other cures to speak off. Good luck

Date: 2004-04-08 08:02 pm (UTC)As for 'stuck too close to the front'... this is familiar to us also. I don't know if you guys have any kind of subjective place or world, but sometimes the only way we've been able to peel someone off the front is by sending them away temporarily (with their consent, of course).
One thing I hear recommended frequently for insomnia is melatonin. We've never personally tried it, although we know one system who had good luck with it and one system who got headaches from it. We've also heard kava kava recommended, though again, we've never tried that either.
Sometimes if we have trouble sleeping and don't want to take sleeping pills (I fully understand your decision to not want to do so), we take allergy medicine instead-- not all kinds, but some kinds put us right to sleep. zzz. that might be okay if you just need it for a night or too.
hope this helps,
Anthea (for Amorpha)
