For discussion:
Do you feel that it is more difficult to "get privacy" within the body, as part of a system, than it is to get privacy from other singlets or systems in the Earth world? Do most of your system members tend to respect your privacy wishes?

Frostbite I know would give it if asked.... Frankly I have never had anything I whanted to keep from them.

Most definitely. Other people don't know anything about the state of one's body unless one chooses to tell them, but everybody in one's House (or "system") shares that body. Other people don't know one's private thoughts unless one chooses to tell them, and can't necessarily discern one's true emotional state, but just try hiding such things from your House. It's like living your whole life together in a little tent; the only way there's any privacy at all is by deliberately making it happen.

I would say all three of us work pretty conscientiously at respecting each other's needs and wishes about privacy as well as about other issues.

Yeah, our experience is pretty similar to that. If we want to hide anything (feelings, or knowledge), we have to make a fairly strong conscious effort to do so... and then, of course, everyone else can TELL you're trying to hide something, even if they don't know exactly what it is... We do *try* to respect each other's privacy as far as possible, but it doesn't really come easily.

Of course it's harder. At least for us. Not that I don't think we have more intrinsict respect for privacy, internally, but that fact that you have to *make* most things private for them to be so, means that there is naturally less of it availiable.

Never really thought about it... come to think about it, there is no privacy on our system. The others always seem to know what I'm up to. And I always know what Dule's doing and thinking. Then again, there are times when The Mask, Kittie, and Jeremiah are sort of... gone...

It's very hard for us to keep things from others in the system. We are not purposely nosey or anything, but when you're sharing a body and a brain, it's hard to keep thoughts private. Howerever, if one of us has a "private" thought that we "overhear," we don't tell that person that we know what they were thinking or anything. We show as much respect for each others' privacy as we can. We think that the more we learn to act as a system (its only been 5 months out of the body's 34 years that been actively trying not to be "one person") the easier it will be to have privacy. If we really want to hide something from the others, we have to make a real effort.

hm... within our system privacy is granted if we are in our individual rooms. It is not difficult to shut out someone else from my own thoughts or they from mine. i suppose that evolved from the dark days when we had no system co-conciousness. certainly now if we are in the House proper, it is not difficult to become CC with anyone at any time we choose & "hear" each others thoughts. Wwe do not do this on a regular basis though w/out asking or being invited. Wwe also cannot be CC with more than 2 of us at a time. So again, pvcy is fairly simple to come by here.

fwiw, i am probably the most pvt person here save one other, a protector of this system (the other person that is).
