Silly question, but I was wondering if anyone knew of webcomics that dealt with multiplicity or DID.
I was just thinking about this because I found Kagerou, which is a great (if odd) fantasy comic with a main character who just happens to be multiple people.

Rose Is Rose. http://umweb2.unitedmedia.com/comics/roseisrose/ It's subtle, but Rose is a harrassed mother whose alter-ego is a biker chick.

I think I'd like it better if it were more obviously about a multiple system. Also, there need to be more non-fantasy comic strips about multiples. As far as Rose... "Now she's dressing two kids... but somewhere on a desert highway she rides a Harley-Davidson..." I can dig it ;)

I get the desire for non-fantasy, but what about Kagerou isn't obvious? ...Or, more accurately, I guess, what would make it obvious for you?

The deal with the comic format is that the main communicative aspect is the pictures - and to have different members of a system have to introduce themselves over and over everytime someone else is up front would use up valuable frame space.
How would you show it if more than one was fronting either, without drawing each member seperately?

You know, we were thinking about this sometime back when we had an idea for a comic involving a multiple system (I just really wish we could draw). The best we came up with was to use a different font in the dialogue boxes depending on which group member was talking. (That comic never got off the ground due to our lack of artistic ability, but hey, we wouldn't mind coming up with a script if someone else out there can draw.)

That was how I thought it could work.

It's a bit out there but...

Calvin&Hobbes. Hobbes and Calvinzilla and all the aliens are otherkin, then there's Spiff and Stupendous and the rest of 'em, and Calvin is the main front-runner, kinda. Several of them, who use the name for convenience. Really. Think about it. ;)

I loved calvin and hobbes. I have the coolest snowman series floating around somewhere on my computer - all thses demented snowmen that they made, that really wigged out calvin's parents. *g*

You know there's a calvin and hobbs feed on LJ, right? Puts a daily strip on your friends' page. :)

You have a point there... but I think Calvin was just meant to be a six year old with an active imagination. Although I don't think I'll ever think of Calvin and Hobbes the same way ever again, and I'm definitely not going to mention this theory to my boyfriend who loves Calvin and Hobbes because he'll laugh and think I'm crazy(er). That's am interesting idea. Never would have thought of it that way.

For sure. So how often were we accused of having the craziest dose of imagination in this quadrant of the galaxy when we were kids? All the damn time, is what. Think about all the calvins from the cardboard time machine arguing with each other. Man, that happens all the time. *bg*

All my friends have a different "diagnosis" for Calvin: one who should know better says Calvin has ADHD, another says he's got Asperger syndrome, another that he's dysmetric (a form of dyslexia). Few seem to think of Calvin the way I do... as a normal little boy with, as you said, a lively imagination. He's the Dennis the Menace of modern times. He's what they used to call too smart for his own good. He's firmly grounded in his own reality, and is fully aware that adults will try to take it away from him, quite sensible in my book. I love him. He's what I should have been allowed to be.

I could see him as plural if I tried -- but more of a soulbonder, unless his "imaginary" friends sometimes step into his body and use it. As I cannot follow C&H regularly I don't know all the stories, so maybe this does happen and I just don't know about it.

Ah. Yes. There's Cuckoo by Madison Clell -- it used to be at cuckoocomic.com but the site's down, I don't know what that means. It's very, you know, clinical-therapeutic-MPD/DID, but I sort of like it. It's very pretty, at least.

I wish I could draw, then I'd draw pictures of everyone inside and make a whole comic book of our adventures. Actually, Slávka and I were thinking about making a zine, but that's going to have to be on the way, way back burner. Maybe we'll get around to it this summer, after I've finished my novel and done the zine about Milena Jesenská I've been thinking about doing for so long. This is all beside the point though.

Elmira, very very scattered at the moment
