Hi, I just found this community through Astraea's web. I figured out a few years ago that I'm multiple, and I am sure that the origins of this are abuse based for me, and was really amazed to learn that not all multiples have had an abuse/trauma basis in their own lives. How interesting is that? Wow.

In further reading tonight, I found that I am not as unique as I had thought, that there's a name for what I/we experience. Age slider. Each of my many mes is just me, but at a different age. The youngest is six years old, the oldest is 39. I am currently 42. Most often out and about other than "me" is Jennifer, who is seventeen years old.

I guess I want to learn more. I want to discover what it's all about, how we live together. I'd decided a long time ago now that "integration" sounded just a little too much like voodoo to me, and my other selves had told my husband that it sounded like dying or death to them, they fear it terribly. They are me, killing them off is not an option. Taking care of them is what needs to be done. This is how I am thinking.

Anyways, that's me.

Welcome to the comm. We're an interesting and varied mix of groups, some with traumatic roots, others without, some with both. We here in my group seem to be made up of both abuse related and natural members. I wonder if there is a way to tell?

Hi,

Learn all you can...and the more support you have, the better. I love what you said about integration. I feel the same way. These are my peeps. Losing them would be horrible. The way it's referred to is Cooperative State, where everyone stays with you, even if they are parts. Integration is just a tactic people use because they have their own issues. I wouldn't be here if the peeps hadn't shown up. They keep me together, if that makes sense.

Let me know if you need anything...I'm happy to help.

Welcome to the community. You'll find that some others on here also do not like the idea of integration. Although it can take a lot of work sometimes, I also prefer to live together and couldn't imagine my life alone.

Welcome. We're the Featherdance, and feeling kinda blendy at the front since most of us are trying to pay attention to our homeworld, Nimoko. We are a gateway system, but we do have a few members on Nimoko who are trauma-split in and of themselves. Specifically, Fire's household sounds pretty much a lot like what you're describing. She says she'd love to talk to you at some point.

Welcome. Firstly, I love your icon. Secondly, some of us are age sliders by the definition you used, although we thought it meant people who can change age. (Maybe it's both... wouldn't suprise me for multiples to have words with multiple definitions. ::snickers:) We're also married and our husband knows most of us, he'd know everyone if they were social enough. We feel the same way about integration.

Only on these online sites have I learned that integration is not necessary. It has allowed me to find peace. Now that my others know I'm not going to try to kill them, things are much better.
