Date: 2007-08-22 01:14 pm (UTC)However, I very much believe that the process of reconciling group members who have a tough time with life and rules with the rest of the group. So I would say that this VERY MUCH falls under the rubric of get professional help. I don't know what your situation is in terms of age and financial situation, but if you're at the point where this new member is attacking system mates, family members and even threatening the body, then it's time.
So here are some options: If you're in college, look up the phone number to Student Counselling Services on your school's website and call them--it'll be free, and the people who work there are trained just as well as the people who cost a lot.
If you're not in college, but over 18 biologically, then go through the phone book and find some counselling close to you: the magic words are "Sliding-scale fee". That means that the fee is dependent on how much money you make, so they'll work with you in terms of what sessions will cost (and the first session is almost always going to be a free consultation session).
Finally, if you're under 18 biologically then we run into some other problems, namely that you may have to come out to your family which can be hard. However, if you're at a point where someone is threatening system members, the body, and family members, then it's time to get some help.
Tough decisions, all of them. But again--you've got to weigh the danger to yourself versus the comfort of things being as they were before. I would err on the side of safety every time. I hope this helps.
