Most of our local friends are also multiples, but we'd sort of like to branch out...get away from The Wank That Was Life in that group (give all that dust time to settle, etc.) Not that relationships with singlets are any less prone to drama, but I've sort of decided that any new people invited into my life would be better off being plural, too, you know what I mean?

Our question is, how do you go about finding local multiples? ._. Is there a Multiple Personal Ad forum anywhere that our Google skills haven't found?

most of the time when we've met other multiple households.. it's just sorta happened. haven't gone out looking.. it's just that we find other houses.

Hmm met two other household our first semester of college, think by the time we'd graduated we'd met 10-15 other households.. met more after we've graduated.. not really gone out looking, just sorta found them and they found us.

I've never went looking for local multiples. The only ones I find are those that belong to communities or chatrooms.

I only found one other local multiple purely by accident. I mean we don't walk around carrying signs :P Maybe some support group or something...or place an ad in where you use some carefully placed keywords.

I know about 7 live-bodied systems in my area. Honestly, multiples don't have a whole lot of use for each other.

one is a two-way who trade every 3-5 years via blackout. they're against each other, and all i get from them is 'fight them, and they'll eventually go away'

some i just get depressed, because I feel like the weaker members are getting a crap deal.

most dont want to talk about it openly with anyone. other multiples included. sort of a 'they know that i wont spill their secret, but do i have control of my people?'

a coupla systems I actually enjoy. but even then, when they throw a member I dont get along with....

but it definately helps me not feel unnormal, and it's cool to share notes etc, and to yap with someone who 'gets it'. ya know.

Yeah, that's probably the problem we've had most of; people who are multiple don't want to talk about it until they know the other person's multiple, and that rarely comes up :\ I don't know, I'm just really tired of singlets I guess (and that sounds bad but meh.)

Well, there is a community map (http://www.frappr.com/multiplicity).... I'm not sure how well it would work for meetups. You might be able to find someone else in your general area.

Online forums, mostly. We became friends with people through soulbonding, mostly, and a few years later some of them are local.

I actually have a friend (I haven't seen him since last year)..I met from tribe.net -- he's a really nice guy -- but I don't think he's completely aware that he's a multiple -- just that he used to have a lot of alts on tribe.net and they would fight one another -- they're all very distinct --once I met him IRL -- I picked up on it very quickly. (I've never mentioned it to him if he's not really aware of it -- best not to say anything).

Other than him -- I've had mostly bad experiences with other folks that have DID/MPD. Probably because I tend to trigger them and vice versa and usually not in a safe way. I have two online friends that are multiples that live in my area -- dunno if I'll meet either of them.

Ahh, yeah I've had a few bad experiences with some multiples. My system and I are fully functional, though, so that's more what I'm looking for; functional systems.

I wish I knew more multiples around here! I've met a few in my life and heard of others and wish there was a way to find some near by. My best friend and sister (by choice) is a multiple and we've been living to gether for 3 1/2 years. I feel like I have better relationships with other multiples and someone always gets along with someone else.

Same, here! It's just easier to be relaxed when people know, I think, and singlets...just usually don't get it.

*nods* Even the ones who try to be nice tend to look at it as, "but WHY is s/he using a different name now" or something like that. They try to give a spin on it from a totally foreign perspective.
