is it strange that i still use single pronouns? i've really just learned about the girls recently, and they aren't very active yet. but i have no doubt that they're here.
i guess i say "i" because i'm always at front even when they are. and even though i know that "rabbitt" was much in control throughout high school and the start of college, the other 3 girls just don't do much. (well, lily does like to suck her thumb at night, but she gets frustrated because the hands are so big.)

does anyone else use the singular a lot?

We went plural-crazy when we first realized that there were multiple fully-formed people in here, not just one person with a ton of fictional sockpuppets to play with. Now, we generally use "we" to indicate that most or all of us are involved, and "I" for personal actions and opinions.

It tends to bug most of us when a journal entry comes up with too much "we" in it. Even if we do share memories, most of what happens to us is actually happening to only one or two, and it's a big improvement to feel that we can disagree with each other or have different views of what happened. So "I" is comforting; it reminds everyone to treat each other like real people.

As long as you're communicating clearly, use whatever words are comfortable. English isn't very good for expressing these things.

Heh. We use plural when a statement made is true for more than one of us or statements that more than one contribute to making, and I when the statement made is something only the speaker is making.

I tend to use singular terms as when I got in the habit of using the plural (basically when first diagnosed, and when hanging out with a lot of other multiples IRL), the habit extended itself outside of the 'safe' community, so I had to pull back and revert to the singular to avoid any issues/confusion etc

this group uses whatever pronouns seem appropriate at the time. i, we, you, he, she, and they (singular or plural) all apply at different times, but then pronouns are pretty good at boxing you in. justathought...

I tend to use "I" very often, because when talking to someone, we temporary "fade" into one or pretend to do.

But if i'm alone, I tend to say "What are we going to do now?" or something~

I use I all the time, since it's just Vi and I, unless I'm referring to something having to do with both of us.

I use the singular most often, but when the plural is appropriate, that's when I use we/us/our, etc. Most of the time, it's the singular though. There's others in my system who stick mostly to the plural, but we all use the singular to some extent.

Our system seems to be very much like yours, going by your description here. I'm always at front, like you, even though there are times when someone else is mostly in control. and like you, there have been long periods of time when someone else has been mostly in control (though i'm still here).
The only time I say 'we' offline is when refering to myself and another system member jointly in therapy. and occasionally on the internet when refering to everyone or more than one person/being. Otherwise, the pronoun used is always I.
(I think I'd be too scared to use 'we' in public anyhow. even around people who know about us. I guess that's because I'm/we're so used to presenting as a single person, even though we're not.)

and, because my girls aren't very active, the doubt happens more than i'd like it to.
This I can relate to as well!

it's always nict to know there are others out there like you in some way.

We use "We" or "Us" when we're talking about the people in our system as a whole. But we use "I" when we're talking about the person who's fronting. If there are two people fronting we still use I sometimes but generally we use "We" or "Us". And if we do use "I" we make sure people know who's talking. So if someone in our system were to say something like, "I believe it's a lovely day out." We would have them put there name after it. Ex: I believe it's a lovely day out. -Alika.

Hope this has helped you. ^.^

-All of us.

When I'm talking about just myself I use "I". When I'm talking about something related to the whole system I use "we".

When we're with friends who know about all of us, we usually use the term "we" if it's possible. Or "us". But it all really just depends on who's around and the situation. And it also just depends on how you're comfortable referring to yourself and the others. If you want to make it plural, then there's nothing wrong with that. If you want to make it singular, then there's nothing wrong with that either.

It's all about you and what makes you comfortable =)

I say "I" almost all the time. Unless I'm talking about the rest of the group together with me. Kalli

Of course it's not strange.
