[identity profile] dianneordi.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] multiplicity_archives

I don't have MPD / DID, but I've had two close friends with DID and have known several others.

I'm currently working on a screenplay which I'm hoping will cast multiplicity in a favorable light, and would love to get some input.

The log line: A college student with multiple personalities must make a choice between the boy she loves and the alters who've kept her safe since childhood.

Although there's no explicit sex or violence, I've tried to be very straightforward, so there may be some triggers.

The screenplay can be downloaded it at www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/5/350846/Alters.pdf

Comments can be directed to dianneordi at excite dot com. Use "Alters" as the subject.

Thank you!
Dianne.

Me again :). Just wanted to tell you that I showed the script to one of our non-multiple friends, who doesn't know much about the subject other than hanging around a few multiples online. She liked it, and said that she saw it as portraying multiplicity in a positive light. Quote: "I don't think it was negative. In fact, it seemed like the doctor trying to deny her personalities and giving her drugs and things was portrayed as 'bad'". She also liked the portrayal of Tyler, because even though he was a "good guy", he had his flaws (read, the way he handled the whole Julia/Heather situation).

Yeah I'm the singlet who liked the story. Thanks Mal... XP

I really actually enjoyed reading this. I really did. Now maybe this is because I'm not multiple, and I wasn't able to be offended by the word 'alters' or not, I don't know. I do think that 'Plurally Inclined' is a much better title, though, and reflects back onto Heather and her screename, and how she met Tyler and so on and so forth.

Generally, I thought it portrayed multiple as being a Good Thing (tm). It may not seem this way to the guys who actually know about it, but to me (the lay person, as Malak put it), Heather's friends seemed to be one of the best parts of her life of her life, and I was left feeling 'nooooo don't do it!' when the doctor wanted to her to ignore them, and put her on drugs. I didn't think it portrayed it as a sickness. I was left feeling that the doctor was wrong.

The ending was a bit too 'happy' though. If it were my story, I'd have got them together, but maybe not married. But having BJ as the flower girl was cute.

BJ though. Um? o.O

I dunno. If you'd called the story 'queers' or 'weird spacko Otherkins' or something that relates to me more personally, maybe I would have been offended. Who knows? Do a find change for alter, and I reckon you're sorted!
