I just found this on a friend's journal. I'm slightly pissed....well, more than slightly.

*echoes that sentiment* It's harmless. Heck, I'm probably going to post it.

I think I've seen one like that before or maybe it's the same one. Quizzes are fun. :)

I agree with Rick but not so behemently. Quizzes don't exactly bother me but look at what it does to/for society's already bad mental image of multiplicity.

Personally, I found the quiz kind of tasteless and pointless. I think it portrays multiple personalities, yet again, rather misconstrued, fueled and glorified by popular media characters that generally confuse people as to what MPD is really like. Of course my opinion stems from meeting too many people who honestly believe these characters are the true form of MPD and won't listen to anything else. Even going as far as claiming they have (at the very least) a "mild form of MPD", because like, one moment they'll be angry and then a few minutes later they'll be all happy again, so like, they totally have MPD, just like you! Of course, I realize that people like this are just plain stupid in other areas, too, so why not MPD as well? And yes, I realize this is "just the internet" and people are stupid everywhere, and the quiz is probably meant for singletons and not multiples so much. But that doesn't mean it's no less frustrating! ~_~

This question on the quiz disturbed me.
When someone else is in trouble someone else comes out of you to help, you even look stronger. What does that mean?

Robyn says that maybe it means an Alien Xenomorph chestburster comes out and helps me fight enemies. *laughing hard*

I think it's amusing. Sure, it's totally unscientific and horribly clichéd, but then, so are 90% of online quizzes. No, let me correct that number: 95%. Anybody who takes that sort of thing seriously is severely lacking in brain capacity, and frankly, I don't care what stupid people think of me/us.

*points to what Rhymer says (http://community.livejournal.com/multiplicity/609338.html?thread=9586234#t9586234)* That's the way I see it. It is a very small thing, but it is one more drop in the bucket of trivializing the experience.

Andy says "Despite the grossly stereotypical monikers, the quiz itself seems almost an attempt at something serious," and suggests that this quiz is better than Dr. Ross' Dissociative Experiences Quiz. I think he was more offended at being told that he was a gentleman of ancient British taste.

Wow, stereotype much? I especially like how one in five multiples is British. Though I suppose it's no further from the truth than any other stereotype. Especially since a lot of us do speak formally or with an accent - I toyed with an accent myself a few years ago, I think just to be different.

But yeah, I'm not freaking out about some stupid internet quiz, but it really is just one more memetic land mine. Every little thing like this makes it just a little bit more likely that someone finding out about me will pidgeonhole me as a guardian - or worse, a little. (No offense to the littles here - I don't think you'd like it either if someone thought of you by that stereotype, and I'm more or less 17.)

And I'd be way more upset if I'd found it like ricktboy did, on a friend's journal. That's a little too close to home.

Your multiple personality is the Guardian. You are strong, a protector, your voice will even drop. You will look and feel bigger. Superman through and through-nerd by day Guardian by night

I suppose that's pretty accurate. I am the protective one, the adult one in our system. But I'm not a nerd by day, no way :P

I, apparently, am Dr. Jekyll. Amusingly, so is Ellen. Hmmm, that test is not the most distinguished example of the art I've ever come acroos. Particularly given the spelling mistakes.

We agree with the folks who've said that the test is kind of frivolous and not to be taken seriously. We took it too, just for kicks.

Actually, two of us took it: Julia and Craig. They're the two main people in our system, at least when it comes to dealing with the earth world. Julia got Dr. Jekyll. Craig was Mr. Hyde. Oh my goodness!

LOL ARCHETYPES. WE ARE FLAT LIKE DVDS AND PANCAKES!

Did you mention this to your friend? Like, do they know you're multiple? I mean, I know before I ever put a name to it, I was under the same delusions as most people - even as I was experiencing it, I had no idea that there could be multiple people in a body without it being traumatic, or losing time, the old psychiatric chestnuts.

I find the quiz so weird and off-the-mark that it barely approaches being offensive (for me). Like, even though it's one-dimensional, can't a singlet be "the protector?" Why is multiple personality even a factor?
