Why do people have to act like they never had multiples after they get 'healed'? Like any of need healing... We're not diseased.

It just pisses me off.... My friend is acting like she was never multiple and ignores me when I start to talk about the old group. (Most of which consisted of the others in her.) She's even going as far to saying that my group is sent by Satan to help me sin or some shit... I dunno... It probably wouldn't piss me off so bad if I hadn't been in love with one of them. But even still....

Why do people act like this?

Only person I knew that acted like that wasn't really multiple to start with. She got bored of it, the 90's were over and being mutliple wasn't the cool thing to be anymore, so suddenly she never was, suddenly the others weren't part of her existence at any time. she didn't even integrate really, just one day she was not multiple.

*g* That reminds us of something a friend of ours once said, to the effect of "It's amazing how many of the people who claim to have astral babies can't even remember the babies' names six months later."

For some people, multiplicity just seems to be like a... sparkly thing. Something to play with, and have an excuse to blame everything on, until it's not fun any more.

we haven't met very many who give birth to babies in their realms. are there others who give birth to them instead of children suddenly appearing? we do have child walk ins too though. Kes

Oh, no, babies come about in the "normal way" (aka the way you'd expect them to here, I guess) where I'm from. I know my parents and my brother. It'd be a little... odd if children suddenly appeared, there. Like in The Sims or something! *hee*

The astral babies thing was more a reference to... well, along with multiplicity, stuff like sudden memories of past lives or lives in other realities, adventures on the astral plane, etc, are also perceived as shiny and cool and neat by a lot of people who will go around claiming to have had them as long as it's fun for them, but when it's not as new and shiny as it once was, or too hard to keep up an act, it all conveniently seems to drop out of their lives-- including things you'd think would be really important. I mean, I have a lot of respect for people who take it seriously, but I also think that if someone really takes it seriously, it won't mysteriously vanish when it's no longer convenient.

The one person we know that had an astral baby considers herself a real mother and is still very devoted to him. This was many years ago -- he's about 22 now.

the one that we've heard was satan/ evil spirits confuses us/ people so that we/ they think they have 'multiple personalities' (using the term kinda sarcastically btw, this is kinda talking from their perspective)
--- so that the person away from god/ under the influence of evil beings and such.

... walk ins are just plain possession.

a friend (who was a multiple as well?) is trying to convince us to 'let go' of our multiplicity by.. um.. religious purification, as well~

from what we've seen, she's not 'cleansed' from those 'evil influence', she's just ignoring the others : \ but we're not to judge of her decision, I guess.

Having dealt with losing contact with people that way, it wasn't how that turned out.

The one we heard was that the people in the system aren't demons but that the trauma which causes dissociative multiples to split in the first place also opens a "door" so to speak, to supernatural forces. This mostly comes from D. Scott Rogo and Ralph Allison, who said he'd never met a multiple who wasn't psychic. James Friesen believed demons get into the system and masquerade as persons native to or belonging to the group. What this girl went through, though, sounds more like straight-ahead deliverance activity, where all the people are demons and must be cast out.

The weirdest one we ever heard came from a Christian counselor on line who took off from the opening a door idea. He decided that all multiples had the ability to see inside and had inner places or worlds (we've met plenty who didn't). He thought those subjective places were the spirit world of angels and demons and it was the true calling of plurals everywhere to join up with the angel squadrons to fight Satan in the spirit realm until they met Jesus Himself, at which point they would become fully integrated *poof*, just like that.

like in shamanic roles where they deliberately condition the shaman's mind/ thought process to be more.. 'open' to supernatural forces and trances?

My partner is multiple and integration isn't even a goal. We'd just like the parts that feel bad or act out to get what they need so there isn't that internal conflict.

Well, I'd be happier if the suicidal one got better or gone. Honestly.

That is pretty much my goal... cooperation... plain and simple. Sometimes there are those that were originally part of each other and they go back that way when they are done with their "issues", but mostly folks here just go wayyyy back and rest until needed...

um.. from what we've seen.. people who get "healed" like that.. are just running.. from themselves.. literally...either because their families, or someone in the house forced the point.
Or like other people have said.. it's not cool anymore.. so they stop pretending.

specially if it happens at one of those evangelical "exorcisms" that's all over the tv and stuff in some places. they're big on anything else being of the devil..
heck when there was a fundie in here.. she would scream unendingly about us being demons sent to destroy her and test her faith.. luckily she's changed..

sorry rambling

There have been times when several of us have blended so smoothly as to be as one and it has been wonderful. However, for me, there are so many diverse people and intelligences within my system, that any integration could only mean that certain parts were interfacing or interacting with the world, while others were 'inoperative' or watching, observing or sleeping.

I rather agree with Gryphons, that someone claiming integration may be runnning from themselves, feeling a need to express only that which is 'acceptable'.

There is also continual change and growth, and expecting anyone in my system to always be the same doesn't seem helpful. There are times when I miss someone in my system and I don't know if they are sleeping, absent or have changed so much they seem like a new person (or merged with someone).

I know a multiple that claims to be integrated, but the way she uses the word may mean simply 'cooperation' as she reminds me of myself when I'm interacting in a group and trying hard to appear as one person, when I'm not.

This friend of yours might just be clinging to a relious doctrine that invalidates multiplicity because eir in denial about eir own issues or simply don't want to deal with them.

The traditions of our faith would seem to exclude multiplicity. But we honestly haven't found anything in the Bible to suggest that.
We don't think we're evil or possessed or being devil-influenced.

Gabe says he's never found anything in scriptures that says you cannot be plural. As Gabe sees it, the man in the Gospel of Mark wasn't multiple because if he had been, Jesus wouldn't have been able to just schloop up all his people and send them into the bodies of those poor pigs.

There would have to be an explicit commandment that read "If any are found among you which hath numbered more than one soul, he shall be stoned at the city gates (or something) for such is an abomination unto the Lord."
