I love the image of the mental hospital as vampiric. Some places and people can just suck the life and soul right out of you, can't they? I have family like that. I moved several hundred kms away. Much better.

Just read some of the others on your journal. You've got a great talent for picking the right words to get your emotive image across. It's hard to do - there's a temptation to say too much sometimes. I respect a frugal poet who still conveys such powerful images. The sign of a true wordsmith.
