Hormones

I've got a question. Are there any systems out there that are predominantly female, but live in a male body? If so, do you have any troubles with the amount of testosterone going through your body? I used to have some anger problems. I'd get hurt, and I'd blow up. Physically hurt that is. So, I decided that a logical course of action was to take estrogen, and progesterone. It has helped me out so much I can't even begin to express. Although right now I am a bit emotional because I just started back on progesterone after a week of not having it.

i'm none too fond of taking things, but there's reasons for my attitude on that. (stuff in general, even tylenol, bugs me a bit.)
i've noticed that, at least for us, large amounts of meat tends to bring out the rough-and-tumbles while vegetative/complex dishes bring out the domestics and ponderers...especially when cooked from scratch.

It's kinda fun to watch the mentality shift from "leave me alone! *sniff*" to "you made her cry." Eep.

...and the testosterone keeps my reaction time in good order.

Well the body was kinda born male. We id as a womyn. We take E and prometium. Not because of anger and other stuff though it does help I not feel like a lawn mower running jet fuel but becuase of wanting to tranistion and other stuff.
It has helped us a lot in a lot of way.

Must be a somewhat opposite effect for predominantly male frontrunners in a female body -- we don't notice female hormones making us unduly violent or angry (or overly emotional, etc.) but when we get testosterone analogues (via DHEA, for instance) we become very peaceful and inclined to sleep.

One time Gabriel was in front all by himself pretty much, for about three weeks, and our period was late.

We're not predominantly female, but Margaux is a LOT more violent and "manly" (for lack of a better term) than most genetic girls. We also noticed the opposite effect in Our ex's male alters. They seem more laid back and "girly" (again, for lack of a better term) than most guys. We just chalk it up to physical differences in the brains and stuff.

Yeah. Margaux has a thing for meat (no pun intended) too. We can't let her close to the surface grocery shopping or We wind up with a hundred bucks of steak, roasts, deli meat and hamburger in the cart -- which wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that it's usually a $100 budget for ALL the groceries...

I'm mainly gald she doesn't get physically violent though. She's a REAL bitch. Of course, it isn't much better that she can get Our External Security Chief to do her "outside" dirty work for her, but at least Floyd knows about escalation and de-escalation of force and stuff like that.

We second John's comment on the counterbalancing hormones thing. Many of us in here who ID as male or third gender are much calmer and more laid-back when we're on things like DHEA-- like the 'natural' female hormone balance of the body is really out of whack for them, to the point where it makes them unstable.

Interestingly, we have more physically aggressive female frontrunners in here than males. Yes, some of us (incl. me) would fight like hell to defend ourselves if the body was really attacked. No, none of us are actually dangerous if left unsupervised, no, we wouldn't get up and stab you in the face if you made a bad comment about us. I hate that stereotype so much. it's what makes people think multiples aren't trustworthy. Just because someone is willing to be a fighter if the need arises doesn't mean they go around bashing on people all the time. I hate that whole 'alters with jobs' idea so much partly because it leads to that stereotype.

*really made this a tangent, sorry*

oh, addendum to above-- the body is female, I ID as female, but a lot of the people whom I share the front with don't. Just in case anyone was confused. So we're kind of in the opposite situation from the thread starter.

I experience 'seeing red' level of anger since starting oestrogen and have to sometimes put effort into not losing my temper. In fact I think I only ever experienced 'flat frustration' on natural testosterone and never really got a range of 'uncontrollable' emotions until we started hormone replacement.

I really don't think we can generalise about these things.

I know it's an old topic, but I'm adding my two cents, since I think it's relevant.
Female body, people of both genders.
Anyway. My hormones are screwy naturally. I get horrible menstrual cramps and hormone-linked depression, so, per my doctor's reccomendation, I started taking birth control pills.
This was not a good thing.
While it did help the cramps and depression, it also made me extremely sick to my stomach.
Now, I'm trying the patch in hopes that a more evenly released dose of hormones will prevent the illness.
Yeah. I'm just screwed up.
There's a couple of us who still haven't adjusted to a body of the opposite gender, though. One heterosexual male in particular. *snickers* He's having slight issues with the fact that I have a boyfriend.
