i mean, i met this really awesome person, and was all twitchy about coming out to her, then she came out to me...it happens all the time...

No, but I seem to attract movies/books/etc. about multiples... I'll want to see/read something for years and when I finally do, it'll end up being about multiplicity. This happens very frequently. That's not really relevant but I decided to share anyway. :P

Yeppers it happens to me, my best friend confided it me and i've dated two people who came out to me before i ever said anything. Sometimes i think its contageous...silly thought.

My boyfriends a multiple....and at this point pretty much everyone in this system likes everyone in his system (8 months whooo!!!!). Then I also have another friend whos multiple....and that's about it ^^'

and by the crack of 4am we were the only ones still there and awake, at which point there was a conversation somewhere along the lines of "Right, so I take it you're more than one person too? Okay, thought so." Is it just me, or is it really easy for multiples to find each other? Maybe we just notice the "symptoms" better by being them ourselves?

In high school, I dated a girl who was two people, but she was crazy and a drama whore and invented a number of fake other selves whenever it was convenient..I'm not sure she could tell the difference between when she was pretending or not, in all honesty. There was her ex-boyfriend who pretended to be multiple because it made it easier to control her ("you loved me in a past life!"), and of course my friend Micha who was legitimately crazy - probably some mild schizophrenia, a touch of delusional paranoia...he jumped on the bandwagon too.

So when college rolled around, I stated to doubt our own sanities, seeing as everyone who I had met who claimed to be multiple was a total nutjob.

And then my friend's girlfriend D came up from Texas so they can move into an apartment together. She's the one that quote is about - she's legitimately multiple, and we both knew each other was within two hours of talking to each other...the subject just couldn't come up until everyone else was gone or asleep. Her system is actully pretty interesting - an unusual combination of individuals and fragments - by fragments, I mean "alternates", others that were created for a specific purpose, the best example being Guardian, who takes over when the shit hits the fan and D can't handle it any more, or when Silver does something really stupid and she needs to play damage conrol.

So yeah, maybe we an just recognize other multiples, even if they don't switch, because we tend to have a slightly different view of the world. Maybe we subconsciously drop hints in conversation that singlets wouldn't pick up on. Maybe it's like "gaydar" (which I have proven repeatedly to be simultaneously more reliable and unreliable than people think). Or maybe it's just simple magnetism. *shrug*

I try to analyze this any more, and I'll end up in the realm of philosophy, and I only ever took one or two courses in it, so I'm by no means qualified, so I'll stop now.

When i first told Mistress i was multiple She said "omg I thought I was done with this." LOL or something like that. Then after W/we got together the two of us met 4 or 5 more multiples within the next few months. It was weird.

I think a multiples Bio-Electrical energy is different than singletons; on a different frequency if you will. When they get close enough, their energies seek each other out, kind of like magnetism. Most of the multiples I have met offline tend to be also bipolar like myself, possibly meaning that bipolar multiple energy is different than nonbipolar energy...

I've run into so many legit multiples, it's not funny...almost my entire chosen family is multiple, save like, 3. and more come out to me all the time...and i know it's legit...

it's soooo weird.

We haven't either. We've known several people who faked it, or who faked having something plural-like (past lives or characters who fronted and talked through the body, etc). And yeah, what you said about the stereotypical personalities thing; not necessarily that they did The Good One vs. The Bad One, but they'd have these flat caricatures, like The Wise Mystical One, The Sexy One, The Bitchy One, etc. In several of those cases, I think we knew deep down that they were putting on an act, but we held out (unwisely) because we wanted to believe we'd found others.

Ditttttto. :| For awhile there it seemed like everyone and their friggin dog was multiple in some way or another (outright "multiple" or characters, etc). We've met fakers both on- and offline. It's annoying. Most of them really sucked at faking too, cause it was just too sterotypical and all of their "system members" would always be completely two-dimentional. Although, we've met two fakers who were really good about having complex people, but sometimes weren't always good about keeping up the act or getting their made up facts straight. It's really hard to admit to yourself that they're just fakers, cause you really wish they weren't just to be able to connect to other multiples. So much so, that usually we just play along and let them have their delusion.

Perhaps not necessarily multiples, but I do seem to be drawn to friends with some form of mental oddity. My best friend seems to be schizophrenic, and my girl friend often displays dissociative features. And countless others with other such things.
