[identity profile] aquilawolf.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] multiplicity_archives
I'm new to lj and have been browsing the multiplicity community for several weeks and finding lots of experiences that are similar or match mine. Been reading old entries as well. A curious thing though is that a lot of my people are 'right-brained', intuitive sorts and many don't talk, some like to sing or babble and some communicate to me (the left-brained one) with images and metaphors.

I feel so grateful to have found so much validation for the way I am from people who are in similar places, at the same time I spent so much time, maybe 3 or 4 hours on the internet the other day that I got stuck in front. Very unpleasant and stressful, until finally I could let someone else up (relieve all the brain activity that goes into thinking and abstraction).

Does anyone else have this type of thing in their system? So called left brained activity dominating with some and right brained activity with others? The right brained ones ("Peace", someone just told me), don't get as much from the internet, except when theres humor, and I think someone maybe can influence the computer in someway, as after I'm on for too long and don't listen to them to get off, I get error messages and have to reboot.

It sounds like your computer's overheating.

What they said. See if you can find a decent temperature monitor or something, or even just try upgrading some of the fans/heat sink.

we do have a great deal more creative sorts in our group than not.. but we don't really call it left brained or right brained.. because some of those who are creative in our group are also logical too.. maybe they've found a way to balance things? not sure.. lol..

but welcome to the group.. :)

If anything, Kat is our most 'left brained person', and she often may as well be bungee-corded to the front. I suppose I'm somewhere in the middle, and Es is 'right brained' as well as left-handed. Creativity seems to be a system-wide trait, though. Es is also quite fond of the internet, along with the rest of us.

We're a bit like that.

I suspect, to a certain extent, that the sort of plurality the system has has made it possible to preserve such unbalanced processing patterns -- it doesn't matter that Silver only has a six-word or so vocabulary because she's mostly dominant on front at times when verbal skills aren't important or has someone who can articulate to fill in for what she wants to communicate at other times.

In our group that kind of person is called chen. They have varying degrees of verbal ability at different times -- sometimes jason has no trouble talking, more often he doesn't talk or doesn't want to, the same with jade, who is his twin sister. They're both into design and do beadwork and various kinds of craft skills. Jeff never talks at all, although he has no trouble writing and has commented on this community and elsewhere. However, some chen do not appear to be so at first glance; Gabe is a visual/sound thinker and very intuitive when it comes to sound; he can detect minute differences in the car engine or the computer fan for instance. But you wouldn't know that until you'd gotten to know him for a while.

We have yet to see a chen, or any of us for that matter, influence the computer, or the toaster, or anything else around here.
