May. 6th, 2003 06:52 pmtoday my therapist asked me to make a list of the positive traits of each of my personalities. has anyone else ever been asked to do this sort of thing?

Date: 2003-05-06 05:02 pm (UTC)it would make me nervous if someone asked me to make a list of their positive traits, i think, like i would think they were going to be all "well see, if you integrate, you can have all that! now do it!" but i can see how it would be helpful in like getting to know and accept people maybe.

Date: 2003-05-07 04:06 am (UTC)So it -could- be that your shrink is trying to get you to look at it from the perspective of... these people aren't necessarily bad; they have good qualities, things you'd appreciate in friends or family members (which is what hopefully you'll come to think of them as in time), things that could be helpful to you and to the whole group.
But then again, I can't say for sure. It -could- be, as someone else pointed out, what s/he thinks is a prelude to integration, but from my (admittedly biased) viewpoint, I'd see it as a decent exercise for coming to terms with the othes.
