Ok so we now have our own domain, and decided to make little icons, like Jenilee of [livejournal.com profile] kasiya_system suggested to use as signatures. They all seem to work really well. But here’s the deal. Originally we thought we would do a couple, for the people that write online the most, here or in email. It sounded responsible but no, that will never do. It seems everyone that has found a picture that closely represents them wants their own icon. Ok I thought no big deal, that will work, it doesn’t take much time to icon up their pictures. But then I found out that I needed to do the correct width/height code for them all. So now I sit here typing up a file full of icon code for 429 people. It’s tiresome and tedious but it appears the only way to stop the constant nagging is to do it.

I am beginning to think there needs to be a coup in our community that appoints me as dictator, or at least a rampage of killings that will bring the numbers down. I mean LB is so young she doesn’t know how to read and write, so tell me why is it so important she also has an icon

I so love being multiple

Oh but I get to be the first to use an icon

I also look for pictures that look closely like we do. We have only around 30 people who front and are "active/known" and we still haven't found all the icons that we need! Our partner has a frame with all of our pics in it.
Anyone recommend any sites where we can find a lot of pictures/icons?

We've used various fantasy art, anime/manga art, Chinese movie stars, Tarot card pictures, and video game pictures for individual people's icons, and landscapes and nature scenes (like this one), many from Wunderground (http://www.wunderground.com), for group/combined posts. Someday, we really ought to go through and add where each of them came from to the icon notes, because we sometimes feel rather like we're stealing.

You mean fractals? Like this one in our icon? We got it from here: http://www.cnspace.net/html/fractals.html
From: [identity profile] jadedmosaic.livejournal.com
Yeah, Exactley like your icon. I forgot how to spell it, something like fracial art , My name is Elaine, I'm 16 but I will be 17 in a month ... Since Tiea did not take that medicine she s been taking yesterday and today, Us teens can stay up again and surf . You all have been so cool to Shelby and Jade and Joe Tiea and Markey was sleeping allot

I'm staying up with Kirsty and were searching for a LJ community for teens . Maybe we'll make one . We havent found one yet . So we'll just keep getting in trouble talking to people out on the WWW about what its like to be totally stuck in a house with people that wont let ya go to Public School or College , or have your own friends on the outside . IT sucks ... We wanna surprise Tiea with a folder of user pics we know she would like she loves MOSAICS and Psychodelics from the 60"s& 70's so were looking for some artsy user pics. She loves kalidoscopes too. We know how to kinda get the files and upload on some things

Thank You so much for the Link .

We just met a guy that got to go to College and study China we dont understand , he is 16 and lives like we do, Hidden too from the outside but we cannot figure how he got away from the Group .

Were planning on taking the car and driving to California and working as waitresses and applying to College for Holistic Medicine . Tiea keeps saying we can learn overline, online school but bad enough we got homeschooled we want the College dorm experience . So were being super nice doing nice stuff around the house and helping her on the computer. We have also been reading all the adult posts when there a sleep cause well its fun. We act like were so cool but we are blowing this joint we love her but either its get merged /die or stay hidden in the inside world we wanna be on the outside. Tiea says we cant be outside so we'll keep doing nice stuff like making user pic folders and making sure the babies , theres 2 sleep so she gets her sleep before work tommorrow. But I was not born to be a babysitter my whole life .

Thanks Stay Cool Elaine & Kirsty & Kerri

Danger, Will Robinson. The college dorm experience is not not not conducive to study and focused concentration. (ask [livejournal.com profile] sethrenn about this !!!) If you are serious about becoming a holistic health practitioner you would do well to pursue it at least partly through distance education and/or get offcampus housing. There are plenty of opportunities for social contact in a university town and environment.

Waitresses don't make enough. Try Costco or Lowe's instead. Health care! Benefits! Gay-friendly!

Hi My Name is Elaine from The Mosaic Gang .

I go to goggle /images and type in a movie or record artist or book allot and there are tons of... I think there called gifs or gips and gallery 's we have TONS we just dont know how to post them yet.

But under images you can get almost anything ..We typed in ERAS once and got cool user pic's for the 50's 60's 70' 80's so forth . We typed Scarlotte Johanson and there was a huge gallory on "The girl with the Peal earing " it kinda works like that.

Same with music like Beatles and then there album covers came up under goggle /images Good Luck Elaine and Kirsty We dunno how to sign are names though

We have some from http://www.fotosearch.com/ (thumbnails); always trying to mention the address in the icon comments and not to take anything "rights-managed", because that's the kind of picture only the person/whatever who buys it is allowed to use.

Icons do not have to be 100x100; they can be 100x90, or 90x85, and so on. To save ourselves a headache when updating the icon page (http://www.astraeasweb.net/icons.html), as Friday has described, we try to keep them even sizes, however!

Using IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com), creating the proper sized icons is a matter of choosing your picture, marking the desired area, cropping it (control-Y) and using the "image resize" command from the menu to make certain that the largest dimension of the picture does not exceed 100 pixels. Often, I add text to the image prior to resizing it, particularly if it is going to be an AIM icon.

Gee thanks I am for sure going to get the journal running for Tiea and the adults , of course I have a motive maybe they will let me go check out Colleges in California for a Holistic Medical Degree . I am 16 now and suppose to be looking into applications and doing my tests.

Tiea , Shelby and Joe always said we should strive to follow our dreams and Believe but when it comes to College they are explaining were differnt teens and maybe can go online to College , this is to keep us hidden. But my ,life should not be living on the inside , never getting friends on the outside. I finally met a few other teens on this thing and there going to College I dont get why I have to stay in and watch the kids and babies .

So I am going to be super good and use the money I saved to get a paid journal for Tiea and Shleby and Sela and Celi and jade and my Mom Toni so when us teens take off they will have people to meet and know like them. So I want to make the coolest pictures that look the most like them and or represent what they like . The link you sent will help allot .

Well I'm sneaken off to work with Tiea to get to drive and be outside and maybe front for the first time this should be a awesome day. Thanks. Iris , I like that name and the flower .

P. S We made some pictures where the map is no problem but when we hit brouse it keeps saying the picture is too large so this should help have a cool day Elaine

We want to make face icons for our system journal, but then everyone would fuss about having theirs up when there is only room for three, so I'm putting off our plan until we have enough money to buy more icon space. Making them is a different story... we have some people in our system who like changing their appearance constantly, and even one who just identifies herself as a "disembodied Italian voice".

Hey you know what we did, some of our icons are instead of faces they are things we or some of us love. The ones who change their appearance maybe they have a favorite flower or bug or something. They could use that and put their name on it. jason did that with that tree image of his. He doesn't change his appearance but he's too shy to have his face on something. So he put his best photograph he ever took on it instead. Chris is always saying he's going to do a personal icon that is a mixing console like the one he uses at his radio station. Maybe the Italian lady could have something beautiful they have in Italy. A picture of the Duomo or something.

What you said also works for people who identify with the appearance of the body or don't know what they look like.

Hi Friday :) We don't have THAT many. At the moment the main fronters are me, Keilah, Chris, Dat and sometimes Christopher. Others do too though. We have I don't know how many icons done, and still more that we haven't done. My one not only doesn't have a face, it doesn't have my name either. I like it that way, because I'm the one who least likes outsiders. I mostly only like other multiples and I guess I consider singletons to be... well, there's not a risk of getting too close to them, for me, because I'll always know there's things about me they'll NEVER understand. So not having my face or name on my icon sort of represents that about me.

That was a lot longer than I mean it to be!

Oh and on our entries in our journal we use tags as well.

Good morning Friday, we think it's wonderful that you have your own domain now, and we will be changing the links to you from our website today.

I ended up copying-and-pasting the code at http://www.astraeasweb.net/icons.html, and just filling in the appropriate image source, because otherwise it became too tedious, not to mention hard on the wrists. But very few of the icons we've made are not 100x100, just to save on the headaches. (That's also why we tend to create icons primarily for the frontrunners; others who wander front can use one of the general images and simply sign their names, if they feel like doing so. I do wish non-frontrunner contributors from this system would sign their names more often.)

In any event, we are thrilled to see your images and greet you by your names.
