Individuals .. oh yeah and to test icon

Ok so it's late, and we have taken a sleeping pill and we are all feeling pretty damn mushy after a weekend of intense school work, so excuse me this doesnt' make that much sense.

Lately we have been hit but the issue that although we are almost completely out as being multiple, most people in our life still interact with us as one person. We miss the relationship we used to have with friends, who could tell us apart, or at least the ones they had spent the time to know and the other ones were treated like new and interesting guests into their home. That friendship crashed and burned when we found out that we were being used financially and sexually by them. It is good they are no longer in our life, but we do miss that personal individually recognised relation. Now with the people that do know, that accept it, there still seems that it is this mushy clump known as Shire that is recognised and talked to. Shire is always just the name we use in the world, it isn't any specific person. I do believe that some of this problem comes from us, we also use the Shire as a name to hide behind, a safe and easy way through sometimes complicated communiciations. Especially places like here and in emails where often it seems more a joint effort than one person speaking thier mind. But it still means that maybe part of the problem is that we don't allow many people to really get to know us as individuals. I miss it, most of us with a few outspoken oppositions miss it. Hiding our multiplciity has become second nature to us, but we still struggle to allow ourselves to be seen as people, or to not just be the person the other needs us to be.

So in a fit of boredom we thought by creating icons of us all it would somehow make it easier at least here to identify ourselves. This is slightly been shot down because I am only allowed 3 icons, and one is used as our default, so that leaves two of us to be identified. Now it isn't liek we all come here and talk, but there is usually more than 2 people interested in contributing to this site. I'm still trying to think of ways that would make us being allowed to or comfortable with showing ourselves separately. It is years of condition to overcome

In my system, we each have our own LiveJournals. Some passwords have to be written down to be remembered, but it mostly works for us, and helps a lot with our friends, too.

If you don't want something that complicated, you could just elect one person to write a particular entry or comment, and sign their name at the bottom.

That's kind of the annoying thing lately. It would be as easy as signing our name, and everytime we try that we seem not to last, sinking back into our old ways. I don't really know why it is so damn difficult. And I admit I watch other communities that seem to be able to acknowledge themselves, and it makes me frustrated and slightly jealous.

We are just at the moment really annoyed that we are viewed as if we were one person, the only person that doesnt' do that is someone we see professionally. I wish it was easy for us to just sign things, we are looking at ways to be able to feel more comfortableshowing ourselves

What we do is we've made icons for everyone, and keep them all in a single private post that we can grab the icon codes from. We add them to the bottoms of the posts or comments, like a signature. :) Like this:

Named icons ruleXX0r! They provide an ongoing psychological message to see you as different persons, to all those people who "I'm just going to treat you all the same" "I'm just going to call you all Nancy" :b.

We use them on AIM, too, as you know.

And that icon looks very fine.

oh AIM, hadn't thought of that. Downloaded everyone's bio pick from our website last night (oh the tedium) so maybe we can spend our end of year holidays just making icons.

Now if only there was a icon shower that would come up on our forehead, might help people remember

In some ways we have the same problem. Not so much on the internet, IRC, etc, because we can use our names and stuff, but in RL even the people who talk to us separately online just... talk to Us. It's quite annoying, really. I'm looking forward to when our friend Rob comes down from Wellington, he's the best one at talking to us as people and it'll be nice to see him again. (well, first time for me.. and.. most of us. lol)
