Introductions
Oct. 10th, 2005 11:50 amHello.
Um, this is a community that my girlfriend told me about when I started dealing with having more than one psycho in my body. I thought I'd join to see what's up.
Name's Ben. Guess you could call me the "frontrunner" or whatever. I like to think I am the original owner of the body, although we're starting to work a different deal out to be fair to all of the others. I don't write a lot when I'm new to something, so please forgive the short sentences.
meirya has already touched on my group, or system, or whatever. They'll probably come out to say hi at some point. Just for the record, the group consists of myself, Edward, Gaarik, Mikhail, and Karan. Anyone else is either a channeled being or hacking my LJ ;)
Just to let you know where I'm coming from, I work with kids as a school bus driver, so I REALLY hope I'm not crazy, because I like my job. I'm Gnostic-pagan, and I primarily work with the Norse deities. I recently attempted to integrate all these personalities together. Since some of them were archetypal/dissociative, it partially worked, but the ones who are really separate eventually broke loose again (and rather painfully, I might add).
There's a term I use a lot, called disco-ing (coined by
meirya). Up to this point, I used to do it a lot, for short bursts. It indicates where there are a lot of personality shifts in a short amount of time, usually happening when everyone has something to say or when I was fighting for control. It still happens from time to time.
That's about it... *continues skimming posts*

Date: 2005-10-10 04:12 pm (UTC)5 1/2 years ago we had a coerced integration that fell apart a few months afterwards, so we get what you mean by pain. Of course, there was a lot more pain in holding together something that wasn't real in our case.
That's an interesting term, disco-ing. 'lol' We used to have that a lot back when we weren't co-fronting and had an overly secretive life when it came to our plurality. It's funny because we haven't had a burst of 'disco' as you call it for almost a year now. I have to wonder if it's anything like what happens with Tourette's, where if someone holds back their ticks all day they have huge uncontrolled bouts of them? If they just let things happen naturally, whenever they will and whatever it looks like, they don't tend to have the huge bursts (according to the educator with Tourette's I saw on tv up here). Now that I think about it, we now also have less 'switching pain' too. Hmmm. 'thoughtful'

Date: 2005-10-10 04:22 pm (UTC)Crazy is not the correct term. Touched by Loki perhaps. The chaos Inside is something not many can understand, but it is, for me and some others that I know, a blessing in disguise.

Date: 2005-10-10 09:26 pm (UTC)second, being multiple doesn't equal crazy.. and no reason it should interfere with your job.. We work in special education, and I know other systems/houses/pick a term that have jobs like nurse,teachers.. and a lot of other stuff.. ..so don't sweat that part. We agree with May's comment.. our lives are hectic but a blessing..
We're Wiccan.. though very eclectic.. :) and yeah when things fall apart they usually crash hard.. *comfort*

Date: 2005-10-12 02:16 am (UTC)Most of us refer to ourselves as psycho, not because we're many, but because we really hope that we're just imagining the shit on the metaphysical level that we've had to deal with. If we're crazy, the world's a much safer place.

Date: 2005-10-19 05:10 am (UTC)If holding beliefs like the ones you mention constitutes craziness, then many of us are crazy. But does it?

Date: 2005-10-11 03:50 am (UTC)You don't sound crazy to me, and if it's not interfering with your job then it sounds like you're okay. It's probably not a good idea to let your employers know about your multiplicity, though, since a lot of people still apparently view multiples as being 'too unreliable to work,' no matter how good your track record is.

Date: 2005-10-12 02:32 pm (UTC)Most of us are one flavor or another of pagan (we even have a discordian in here.) If you've run across the egyptian concept of neteru or netjer, it offers some interesting thoughts for multiples.

Date: 2005-10-12 04:03 pm (UTC)I suppose I'll introduce myself. I am Edward, and I was "discovered" to be around during a past life regression a couple of years ago. Most of my memories stem from that -- specifically, as a merc in the region of Normandy, early fourteenth century -- so I guess I could be called a "past life shade", if you will. I work mostly with Celtic deities, though my memories bring a bit of Catholic influence.
Hmm. I see the use of the word "psycho" has gotten us in trouble again. Cute.
