Oct. 9th, 2005 09:41 amis it just us, or is this community getting spammed a bit?
the last three entries in it don't seem to have much to do with why it's here... -_-
and, just so we're not complaining ... a question.
we went to see a new shrink on friday, and got put on depakote. is that going to affect anything, function/system-wise?
thanks.

Date: 2005-10-09 04:56 pm (UTC)The tone of the brightly colored ones is really...it reminds me of a Trauma survivor, like...right after said trauma...how they ramble and speak in run on sentences...
The other one...yeah.

Date: 2005-10-10 03:47 am (UTC)I use it to force all comment pages to use the "default" style since custom style comment nesting often screws up in larger threads.

Date: 2005-10-10 03:50 am (UTC)I find it disconcerting, like a cry for attention. I do sympathize, and the community rules don't exclude such posts since they do have to do with multiplicity, just a different kind of it than many people experience.

and hah. yeah.

Date: 2005-10-09 05:24 pm (UTC)they seem a bit like trolls
especially when they said they thought they were typing in black or white but the entry itself said "favorite color red".

Date: 2005-10-09 08:37 pm (UTC)-I don't even know what depakote is. Look how out of the loop we are. 'lol' Wish we knew what to say about that. Sorry.
In reference to the community being spammed? Our varying ideas on this:
-As to the drug post, we think that's probably valid. We've actually had people ask us a similar question before. We're glad that people responded so well to it.
Now for the funky colored posts. We think the following may be true in this case:
-this person/system is desperate and confused, and they are being inconsistent about the reasons why they posted in the way they did because they are currently unstable and having a hard time taking responsability for their actions.
-this is spam. Someone's been reading too much trauma-based-gaga-googoo crap and is bringing it here for reasons I can't fathom

Date: 2005-10-09 08:46 pm (UTC)I don't think they're trolls, but I *do* think they need to, uh, reevaluate the way they're posting.

Date: 2005-10-09 09:03 pm (UTC)Depakote will make you bloat, likely, and that's really all. Depending on what else you are on. Did you give your rap list to your new doc? Better check it.
Good luck on your new pill.

Date: 2005-10-09 11:28 pm (UTC)I'm not sure how it would function on the rest of your family though, since drugs tend to be a pretty personal thing. Good luck with it!

Date: 2005-10-10 01:19 am (UTC)so far it's enhancing communication within the system (aleria is much tamer and willing to co-front now, for example), and outside of it it seems to already be helping. hmm.
thanks!

Date: 2005-10-10 01:10 am (UTC)It has been linked to birth defects (http://my.webmd.com/content/article/98/104650.htm), so you should avoid it if you are or planning to become pregnant, and some preliminary studies have suggested a possible connection to hormonal abnormalities (http://www.psycheducation.org/hormones/Insulin/polycystic.htm).
Any drug, even an over-the-counter one, has the possibility to affect in-system communication (we once took an over-the-counter sleep aid that messed up our communication for several days). It's best to do your own research on any drug before you begin taking it-- besides the list of 'usual' side effects, some people report unusual and idiosyncratic reactions to certain drugs. Some therapists will coerce you a little in an attempt to get you to take a certain drug. I don't know what your therapist is like and I'm not claiming they're doing this-- just that people should know that such things happen. You should make sure you know how to stop taking it at any time, in case you have a bad reaction to it.
