Um...

I am confused.
I read through other entry again the other day, asking if "littles" could post and then having more stuff beyond that that doesn't matter in this post but...
What is a "little?" I mean, I know its a child personality/whatever you wanna call it, but does always have to be a child? Um, that is...can a "little" be an adult sometimes? Or just always a child. Do they grow up like normal children or stay child-persona-things forever? I guess it depends on the "little" but then if they grew up they wouldn't be littles anymore, right?
And what age does they have to be anyway? Like young-young child? Below 10? Is Micha a little when he's 13? Am I a little when I talk and act like a child even tho I'm not stricktly one? I'm an adult when its needed...
Is Dizzy a little because she was "born" out of a lost childhood even tho she's not a young child and acts adult sometimes? I'm not sure what the term means...and the others couldn't answer so they said maybe I should post it here to ask. So, um, I did ^^

...for um, the record. Or whatever. I'm not really a "little" or a child even tho I talk and act like one like stated. I don't have an age really. I'm an adult when its needed, and more adult than some of the others but its usualy not needed so I act like a child. Also, I am new. That means I didn't exist before I was formed awhile ago and I don't have memories or understanding of society as it is. So I don't understand many things...and I ask. I think that's part of why I act like a child (and its more fun than acting adult ^^), because those sort of questions are tolerated more from a child.

the exact age that someone classifys as a little varies from system to system...
im our system a lil is someone aged 0-9
10-15 is a middle, and 16 an up is a big.

and as for the growing up thing... some alters to choose to age, so if one day a little decides to grow up and be say, 12... they are a middle.

its just kinda a way to 'group' alters and kinda keep track of stuff, for us anyways.

We have an 11-y-o who flat refuses to be thought of as a little. She'll tolerate being called a kid. We call all our inside littles kids instead of littles.

We also have one who age-slides, though the youngest she's been (that I know of) is 15, sometimes she's older, sometimes she's back to being younger again.

The others haven't really aged, except for Sally (who was 10 once, and then decided she wanted a birthday and so now she's 11). Maybe they'll all grow up in the end, or maybe they won't. I don't really know.

The usual "rule of thumb" that I've seen in most Multiple forums online is littles are up to 9, teens are 13+, and the 10-12s are "middles" or "tweens". But it's really about where the child feels most comfortable.

for us, the ones that are young like maybe 8 and younger are littles, we think of them more as the children, but one place we go online everyone calls them littles so that sorta became part of our vocabulary, and then 8 to maybe 12 or 13 we think of as middles and 13 or 14 till 19 is teens, many of us are age sliders, and a few of the kids have been known to lie about there age a lot, and some of the kids can act like adults but they don't feel like they are older they feel like they are pretending to be grown ups, we don't have any set rules though what somone inside is as far as littles and middles and stuff depends on the person, except for a few that will always say they are grown up, but they say that because they want to do things they shouldn't be doing, and they want to do them for teh wrong reasons

Young persons in a multiple group may prefer to be called children, kids, littles, young people, youngers or smalls. Ask.

There is no requisite for a certain amount of children in a plural system. The existence of young people in a system does not necessarily indicate that there was childhood abuse of any particular kind. The numbre of young people does not necessarily indicate how early in life the abuse, if any, started. Origins do not matter nearly as much as experience. If someone in a group experiences himself as a child, then he is one. It isn't uncommon to find people in a system who are very young, but who operate at the level of an adult, because they are able to access adult knowlege from others in the system.

Some groups especially treasure and protect the younger ones, and some just treat them as equals with all the rest.

Ludy (our only adult) calls me a little but i think i'm more medium sized, i age slide a lot - especally cos sometimes i'm co-conscious with younger or older people in the system
I usually say i'm 9 becos that's usualy the most right answer, but i think i maybe seem a bit older becos of going around in a grown up body, with grown up memeries and sometimes having to pass as grown up.
A long time ago i was definatly a teenager, there was a big crisis and i changed, so that's the oposite of chronological aging. I don't want to be a grown up.
I don't think you have to worry too much about expectations and rules and models of multiplicity becos you are who you are - there are many ways to be many.

Most of Our littles are nonsurfacing. The exceptions are The Kid (the host I mutinied against), who is 8 inside, and Freddie, who is only 2. The Kid comes up sometimes, and has a weird relationship with one of My GF's littles who is also 8. The running joke is that if We ever let those two out at the same time, they'll raid the fridge, gorge themselves on ice cream, candy, cookie dough and frosting. Then We'll both wake up two days later covered in ice cream and other sticky, sugary stuff.
