My origin is simple... I was created when Ty and Raven merged. Well.... they split off back into themselves.

And I'm still here. It's puzzling me to no end... how can they exist now, seperate, and I still exist as well?

We actually have a few members here that were created during periods of mergings and rearrangements and such...

From what I've seen, seems that when two members merge they create a different state than when either of them were seperate... so even if they seperate from that state, the member remains?

*agrees with [livejournal.com profile] plures*
Perhaps cause you've developed beyond what they *were* separately?

I think because when one is given time 'on their own' they grow and develop. IE we are always changing, and becoming more than we were.

When Corda/I 'merge' we can form Keza, though she does not think for herself, she is a combination of us both - in a way a co front, hard to maintain, but it allows Corda more freedom when we still need to sound like me. Anyways, it seems though we do not form Keza often, the more we combine the more interaction Keza can maintain and the more depth the personality matrix gains. While not self aware, as our 'robot mode (no one fronting but everyone in the backseat and one or two 'controlling' the robot, ie body), I would not be surprised if someday Keza became her own identity.

Take two computers - then copy both onto a new computer. The original copies are not necessarily lost, but the new computer still exists as well, and will be different because it is a merge of the first two. Identity is more complex, and so personalities change, awareness grows.

All three of you are unique, and become more unique each day you live. It is not surprising to me that that could happen.

....The computer analogy is probably the best one I've heard so far. It should be able to reassure our girlfriend.

That happens to me (Jem) and January sometimes! We used to be Genevieve, but (due to a lot of nasty reasons) we ended up splitting and growing apart. Yet sometimes when we're co-running and not actively trying to assert our individuality, we'll almost be that same girl again.

...Of course later-on January freaks out and decides she's got to over-compensate for that moment of oneness by spending the next week insulting and acting superior to me. >_< Annoying.
