May. 23rd, 2005 10:15 pmAAAARRGHH!!! I love/hate it when K does this...
I was in the mood for whiskey & was wondering what sort of drink to make. I happen to like angostura bitters so I added a few dashes and was trying to figure out what else I should add because I like my drinks sweet. K first suggested Triple Sec. Then he added "Oh and powdered sugar too."
Turned out to be the recipe for a Canadian Cocktail XD Which I had never heard of before, but there it is in the bartenders guidebook XD
A while back my friend Greg had sent me a book on runes. It had an accompanying set of runes but they had been mailed separately & never arrived :( It was a few weeks before I got a chance to actually take the book out to look at it but when I did I thought it was pretty interesting.
I had told my friend Rachel about our system & she suggested that because of K's coloring (fair skin, light auburn hair, blue eyes) that perhaps he had Celtic origins. She thought it was interesting that he was using a single character as his name & then mentioned runes. I decided to look up the rune for 'K' & see what it was about.
"[Kenaz: Beacon or torch] Vision, revelation, knowledge, creativity, inspiration, technical ability. Vital fire of life, harnessed power, fire of transformation and regeneration. Power to create your own reality, the power of light. Open to new strength, energy, and power now. Passion, sexual love."
Oooooh....
Yesterday I was puttering about & picked up the rune book again. Now, some of you are probably aware of how transforming I found The Power of Now. I kid you not, the chapter I read yesterday in the rune book expressed almost the exact same philosophy. This little, obscure book, resonating with the single most influential & groundbreaking text I have ever come across. It was about the transformative power of the present moment, rebirth, awakening, etc... I was impressed. I was also a bit tickled by the coincidence and began to giggle a bit. Kevin was in the other room and called out "I don't wanna know." XD
Then I remembered that since the last time I had checked the book, we discovered K's lover's name or initial, which happened to be D. We knew he was a warrior of some type, where K was a healer, and that they balanced each other well. So just for fun, I looked up the rune for 'D'...
"[Dagaz: Day or dawn] Breakthrough, awakening, awareness. Daylight clarity as opposed to nighttime uncertainty. A time to plan or embark upon an enterprise. The power of change directed by your own will, transformation. Hope/happiness, the ideal. Security and certainty. Growth and release. Balance point, the place where opposites meet."
OK, by this point I was HOWLING with laughter, tears streaming down my face...
Poor Kevin.
....
Today the runes arrived.
I think I need that Canadian Cocktail >_>;;

Date: 2005-05-24 02:47 am (UTC)I've never worked with runes before. I'm more of a pendulum girl. The few times I've worked with tarot cards, I've always gotten a dignified three of swords, which is somewhat depressing.
Easy.
Date: 2005-05-24 03:43 am (UTC)Probably the same place your friend got it.
