OT: Banning
Sep. 23rd, 2004 07:14 pmFor the moderator and anyone else who may run a livejournal community:
If you're in an open community like this one, removing the person from the list only stops the banee temporarily because they can do like the idiot here and just re-join. This is how to ban members permanently:
The maintainer can log in and ban a user through the Admin Console (http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/). Do not enter the < or > symbols; these are only for reference purposes. Replace and [Unknown site tag] with the username of the community and the username of the user, respectively.
To ban a user from your community, execute the following command:
ban_set < user > from < community >

but apparently not permanently.
It appears that the jackass has now been suspended, but if he comes back or there's another jackass, now I'll know how to ban him properly!
