I thought that this was interesting, and those of you who are friended to Maxim's GJ read it already, but I'm posting it here, too.

We've been monitoring our blood pressure off and on again b/c our family is predisposed to heart disease, and we're slightly overweight, so we want to make sure that we're still relatively healthy and not in danger of anything while we're losing the weight that we need to. In February, I broke our leg. Fell down an escalator for those curious! I waited a day to go to the hospital b/c I thought it was a sprain. While there, I had to be the fronter b/c it was "too much pain" for Maxim and Cloud was pissy.

Despite this "horrible horrible" pain, my BP was 110/70, which is a little high but still well within the normal range.

Last Monday, we had another issue b/c we're a medical wonder, or just get sick a lot, and my BP was the same.

Later that same day, Maxim went to get a fitness test done. At the beginning of it, he got his BP taken and it was 125/85. A full 15 points higher, and putting us boarderline for hypertension.

Today, Maxim went to the doctor for the same medical wonderland reason and his BP was a whopping 130/90.

WTF? Has anyone else noticed a drastic change like this when system mates change out?

No, but now we're curious! Next time we get our BP checked we'll take note of who's fronting and see if it's different from last time.

Huh. No idea. I know ours tends towards the low side of the spectrum, but now you've got me curious too; we've never paid that much attention.

Might have to go see if I can't find one of those blood pressure machine around somewhere...

yes.. one of The Clique, LiSa in our group definitely creates an increase of certain things with the body.. mainly, she burns food very quickly.. if she fronts for too long with an empty stomach.. the body feels as though it's starving to death.. it isn't as bad if she fronts while there's food in the body though.. it took several months to come up with a solution for her.. so she wouldn't be grounded from the front like she had been.. -Amirah

Most have us have really low blood pressure, but when Andie (one of our teens who is pretty hyper) fronts, our blood pressure is a good bit higher than normal. As is our pulse and body temperature.

We had some of this. Tahl has better circulation, and there's a noticeable feeling of being healthier when he's been out for an extended time, though we haven't ever monitored the specifics. He also seems to repress the lupus pain, somehow. Saive has a much slower pulse rate, we think because she is so unprovoked by external stress here. It doesn't really feel like 'her' stress, so she doesn't worry about a lot of it.

We all have different vital signs. We tend to scare the hell out of docs when the Dolls front. 5 breaths a minute, pulse of 45 and BP around 80 over 60.

the rest of us are closer to "normal", although Hol tends to front most right now for Doc visits.

hmm.. I know we feel alot different. I know that if Darius is fronting the body's temperature goes up.. you really want something that will twist people's heads?.. if the males are in control of the shell our testosterone level goes WAYYY up.. (we have to get regular blood tests for things.. and we noticed a correlation)

Testosterone

(Much LOL in here....)

God, we hope our testosterone rises when the guys are out! Oh please let that be the case!

(Much more LOL!)

How sweet would *that* be!

Seriously....we don't know if this is the case. We do know that when Forest is out, our body is stronger, and we can run (even though our body usually couldn't run if our lives depended on it, and Forest is too old to be running but does it anyway.)
It's handy as hell when crossing a busy street on foot!

These sorts of variables are common in multiples. They are, after all, different people. Blood pressure is partly mental. Largely, sometimes. Anxious people have higher blood pressure because anxiety raises blood pressure. Rob says it happens to us sometimes.

I know that many times when Gray fronts, the body temperature spikes into the upper 99 to lower 100 degree range, which is odd because the usual body temp is 97.9.

Hi, I'm totally new to all this, but wanted to comment. We have this trouble a lot, Angel is the one with high blood pressure, unfortunately she is also the one who tends to push to the front when dealing with doctors. It can be a pain, the changes in BP are almost comic. From low to lethal in a few minutes. Fortunately my doc takes the readings we do at home into account, but is still very puzzled!

Physical changes when system mates are out.

(Thanks for the term 'system mate'!) :)
