This is my first time posting here, though I've lurked for a while. Figured I better post some time or another. My name is Nikki, and I've been multiple since I was seven or eight or so. If for wanting to know about the rest of the lovely (most of the time) people I share a body with (and I know you're all so curious, so don't act like you're not) clicky here.
Anyway, the problem I'm having is that some people who know all of us are being weird about some things. Mostly in, they'll believe Alyssa and Angelika's life stories, and memories, and what not, along with Sunset's, but a lot of people don't believe Marako for some reason.

Is this just the result of people being stupid, or is this a common occurance amongst a lot of other systems for one person to not be believed?

In my experience it depends almost entirely on what those life stories and memories are about.

Well, people can only digest so many truths at once. Perhaps this is it. For me, and I don't not believe you, I'm just saying... Samuri... women are seen by the Japanese as weak and inferior basically. There just wouldn't be a female samuri, additionally, geisha isn't something you can pose as... you are or your aren't. They're revered but only as beautiful idols. They must spend every moment being perfect and subservient to men. The gentleness and meekness of a geisha is uncompatable with samuri spirit.
But these are personal truths, and are very valid. And who am I do say what's not possible? I mean... no one really believes me when I tell them about Lady K, who in Geoff's words is "a vampire pulling a five and dime on the A.O.D. circuit." (She's got a purgatory sentance, and she's serving it when she's not here with us as an Angel of Death. I have no idea where they get this language, but it's easier than trying to explain it to everyone. Someone in back says "film noir". ::shrugs:: -Paige)

Yes, they are.n Many truths are profoundly offensive. I didn't say I felt that way. I wasn't meaning to be offensive... I was saying that might be part of how they don't believe because they're widely held beliefs. And a friend of mine lived in Japan for 6 years, so my information is based on her personal observations. Again, it was entirely a comment about why it might be so often disbelieved as a truth.

Then perhaps it's the way in which their stories are presented, in addition to what others have already said.

We believe some people in systems and not others. It's pretty normal. Think about it if it was just random guys on the street. Sometimes you believe them, sometimes you don't.

I agree with this comment. For us people in systems are just another group of people.

First of all welcome to the comm and second I have to agree with the others who posted before me. It just depends on the person in question.

Depends entirely on circumstances - people generally believe Puchiko's story (died in a fire in Japan during WWII) but are a lot less likely to believe Shi (Goddess of Death).

Hello. :) I'm with the Kasiyan Group. I try hard to believe what others say. If I'm not sure, because it confuses me, I won't tell someone else I don't believe them. If I don't understand what another group is all about, that doesn't mean they are lying. It only means I don't understand.

I know some people find it more difficult to accept a soulbond or a person who isn't human than a type of person you would find on Earth. Nearly everyone in the group I'm part of is not human. Some of the other have had a person tell them they weren't real, or that one of us were making it all up. The problem with this is who in the group is making it up? We would never know. I know I'm not. I've only been with the group for 8 months. :)

Marako is described as being more restrained. Maybe people compare her to the rest of you and interpret it wrongly?

I thought of myself as "the real one" for a long time and it's still hard for me to naturally accept that other systems are made up of people who are more individuals than a unit. I think if I met you all, I would feel that she was clamming up if everyone else was more open and extroverted.

The "demon hunters" are less susceptible to earthworld verification than someone like Marako. The only image most people have of demon hunters is what they see on TV. Call me cynical, but that may be part of what's going on. A lot of people do not realize that there were a handful of female samurai in actual history. While geisha requires an enormously time-consuming amount of training, if she didn't have to do this very often or in much detail there might be situations in which she might pass.

But you see how I'm rationalizing? I can't do that with demon hunters, because I've never met any and I don't know what they're like (and frankly I don't want to know. It wouldn't be healthy for some of the company we keep.)

That must have been very exhausting as well as a strain on the mind. Both geisha and samurai are formidable disciplines which influence not only attitude and behavior but thought patterns. Also, geisha requires that you begin as a young child, so she must have taken up samurai training later.

Thanks for the reassurance re demon hunters. Let's hope they're never ordered to go after anyone we care about; it doesn't sound likely that they will.

But I'm gonna agree with Nick above me because judging by demon-hunters on TV and my general liking of underdogs...It leaves me wondering why the hell demons get such a bad rap..Demons can be just as good as they can be evil, just like anybody else. And maybe the stereotype that demon-hunters are evil is just the same as the stereotype that demons are evil.

Ah. Thank you very much. That puts things in a greater picture and is much greatly appreciated..And looking at you guys I think maybe I know/knew you? Maybe I'm wrong but I think we do know you.

Something of a sore point.

I realise they're from a different realm. Here however, there are strict, and I mean strict rules as to when lethal force can be used in the apprehension and restraint of a suspect or convict.

As someone who grew up surrounded by people who worked in law enforcement, I firmly believe in these rules, and the right to due process. That is, among other things, what members of my family have gone out in the street risking their lives to protect.
