There's a lot of talk about the downsides of being multiple on this comm, so we thought, hey, there must be some up sides, too!

How about:
- Plurals can use the carpool lane, even if there's just one body in the car (that would make a great bumper sticker/t-shirt, wouldn't it? "I'm actually four people")
- There's a lot of places that offer reduced prices for people who come with a group, so if your system is large enough, you can save money!
- you can do a Chinese Fire Drill all by yourselves, and won't get in each other's way!

...come on, be silly! Give us your ideas in what situations being plural could actually be a bonus!

:D Reading those made my day. It's even more amusing trying to imagine the look on peoples faces when you try to tell them that there really is more than just you. "Really officer, there are two others here with me." *bats eyes*

Contests where you can only enter once - everyone in the system can enter! ^.^

to cheer up the multis in my life.

Some of the ones they like:

You can get answers when you talk to yourselves.

Doing more than one thing at once is so easy for you.

Littles are a reason to keep doing all the childhood things you loved no matter how old you are.

If you influence the body hair or eye colour depending on who's out, it makes a fun way to make your friends wonder.

You can get more in touch with your masculine (or feminine) side than a singleton could ever imagine.

If you end up in jail, you'll always at least have good company waiting for someone to post bail.

...okay, I'll stop now...

+ People don't even react when you're a girl in the boy's bathroom - or the other way around.

Thank you so much for posting this! :D

Admittedly, I sometimes fear irrationally that I'll be "found out" for going in the wrong one, and thought of as a pervert or similar.

Steve absolutely hates going in female bathrooms... the other guys have more or less adapted. His reaction makes me laugh so much I make him go whever I can remember. :D

Katherine despises men's restrooms because of their relative squalor. I even find myself at times wishing we were stuck the other way round, if for no other reason than cleanliness of bathrooms.

You can both win and lose an argument with yourself at the same time!

You can go get a second, third, fourth, etc opinion without ever talking to another body!

You have the perfect excuse to having the wardrobe of 12 people and keeping half your childhood toys!

As a child, you had the perfect excuse for having frilly girlie dresses, tea sets, and dolls, and tough boyish clothes, toy tools, and toy cars all in your closet!

and perhaps as a physical adult you still have this excuse!

I was going to object to that, but then I realized it's all still true! >.<
Just the toy tools have been replaced by real tools, the "tea set" is now actual matched dishes, and the toy cars and dolls are now "models" or "collectibles"! (The clothing goes with out saying, me Joey sitting here in camo cut offs and an old hoodie, and even recently we nabbed a girls' size 14 pink frilly dress that we still need to alter a bit for it to fit properly!)

And the girls were the ones with the toy tools and cars... while the boys were dressing up and having tea!

We tried it. It involves throwing up a lot of mental static, so the skill levels are pretty wretched, but we can do it. I won, hehee.

I've never really learned to play chess, but Nensi and I play Mancala that way. We can switch fairly rapidly, and can decide how much to share our thoughts with each other. We've tried it both ways, peeking at each other's thoughts or not. Peeking while the other one is thinking helped us develop more strategy, get better at the game. But it's more fun to play when we're more separate. She's better at the game than I am, and usually beats me.

A fun thing about being mutliple? Hmmm... how about never being lonely? But then again, sometimes when you argue, you can't walk away from them. Oh dear...

Okay, here's ours.

Back in '92 we were on the WWIVnet sub (newsgroup to you) "More than one in this body". Some of our friends there were -- well, I don't know if they're out plural any more although they certainly used to be, and they own an independent business with a large online store, so I'll just call them J.

Anyway, J were very open about themselves and their history, details of which they revealed in that sub and in other places, including the fact that they were an extremely large group. Then this group (http://www.astraeasweb.net/plural/quietstorm.html) came along, found out they lived in the same region as J, and became friends with them offline as well as on. QS are also something of a large bunch.

At their first meeting, QS had told J they planned to take them to a restaurant for dinner and that they had reservations. Lo and behold when they got there, it turned out to be a banquet hall. QS had actually phoned in and made reservations for three hundred people.

We still laugh thinking about that. It's like the old joke we used to have -- "We should have a million plural march." "Yeah. Two bodies show up." XD

Now we can talk about ourselves in first person, second person, third person and fourth person and pretty much every person and not be considered odd.

Of course! I'm referring to that guy over there. He's me. No, I'm not him, but he's me. So, Ryan is going to talk about Ryan! (I'm Ryan :-P) Referring to yourself in the third person while using yourself as the main subject is Fourth Person. For example; 'Ryan seems to be a little edgy tonight, so I think I better find a way to help myself calm down so Ryan doesn't let the edginess get to myself." XD Randomness. Fun.

Always having someone to play with :D

And having access to a wide range of tastes and interests and abilities. I'm kinda always front so everybody spills over onto me.

I still can't always find something I/we want to watch on TV though. :P
