I finally saw Sybil this weekend with my room mate who is also a multiple. I had read the book but never seen the film. I thought her acting was amazing! Me and my room mate both looked at each other in shock. If we hadn't known it was an actress I might have believed her. I was surprised since she's a singlet (as far as I know).

Besides from that the movie was good, although I don't understand why they made all the alters into children. That was very weird especially since a lot of them were either the same age as Sybil or older. In all reality I cant judge the movie alone because all the holes in the story I knew about since I read the book.

One question though, who was the guy? does anyone know? I knew of a few different guys in the book, but the love interest in the movie seemed like a combination of them and her best friend (who did not appear in the movie anyway).

Well this is just me ranting but I'd like to hear your opinions on this movie or the book.

Saw the movie. Only part I remotely liked was how they showed the "alters" as separate people toward the end coming up to meet her, and how they showed the one girl in the mirror.
Guess the strong dislike comes from that it's one of the only movies out there, and it portrays "textbook multiplicity" and people use that movie as a way to just say "all people with multiplicity are this way".
Guess speaking of movies,I liked "Identity", simply for the fact of how it showed switching from inside to outside, and how the inside is a completely different world.
Any other "multiple movies" out there?

So true. We just got compared to a soap opera the other day...As in, "Oh that "personality thing" just can't be real. You don't run around saying your name is (Insert here) when your name is (Y) That would be wrong. But it would make an awesome plot for a soap opera... I saw one witht the evil alter who got pregnant and the good one came out and threw the baby in the sttreet." Groans. What's Identity? I don't think we ever saw that. Sounds good though.

It's kind of a "scary movie"... so becareful with kids watching it (learned that the hard way!) One goes around killing all the rest...

We nearly saw it, but Lu in particular is very jumpy, so we decided against it. She's not a kid, just not good with some films. Pity because after we heard it was about (some form of) multiplicity, we became far more curious, whereas previously it was just another scary movie.

It's on our list of movies to rent eventually.

I'm very jumpy with scary movies... This one didn't scare me as much for some reason. I don't know why really. I didn't consider it very scary, but some do. I think it was because it seemed to kinda be obvious when there was going to be the sight of someone being hurt/killed... So we could just turn away from seeing it...

Oooh! Sounds like something us older peops would like. We'd have to watch that one aftter the kids went to bed but still, popcorn and a late-night horror flick. Sounds like our idea of a perfect Saturday night.

Tell us aboout it! Groooooooan!! Yeah, the evil one was a s3x-fi3nd, you know the stereotype. Apparently according to the person who compared us, the "evil alter" got pregnant, or should we say got the body pregnant...The good one had no clue she was multiple. And soo, when the baby was born, she just threw it out in the street.

EEP! But aren't they meeeerged now. I was hoping just for once there'd be non-merged ending. Sigh-sigh! Do you know of any multiple TV where's not the integration ending. Smiles! But seriously I think if we knew HTML coding we'd make the generator mentioned in another of our comments and make it a multiple LJ meme just to make fun of Dr. Allison. But then we don't know code and we've never read his work so it's not nice to make fun of him.

Interesting. I would think that a "good alter" wouldn't throw a baby into the street. I would think that at the very least, that "good alter" would do something so that 'strange baby who came from nowhere and the good alter has no memory of' would be taken care of-- police, foster care, adoption, etc. Throwing a newborn baby in the street-- what the hell?!

Yes. That's what we thought. I mean, come on! "Good" is right in this person's title. Hee!! Chunking babies like yesterday's garbage is so not something you expect from the "good alter"

Me myself and I or do you mean Me Myself and Irene? I hated that movie... Oh well... Yes the fact that they were "crazy" hurt my liking for the movie Identity.
