Several in my system have decided that they would like to create someone new here, for various reasons.

Can anyone that has done this give advice? Things we should consider before doing this that we might have missed thinking about, advice against it, for it? Anything would be appreciated.

I looked through the memories and didn't find much, so I asked.

be very careful that you don't create a fragment or someone who is fully developed...there are people who know more here, but we cannot talk long..

sorry

Why do you want to create another person? If it's for some type of task, do you have an idea of whether the type of person you plan to create is likely to eventually resent that? Have you taken a really hard look at the ethics of it, from the point of view of the person you plan to create?

Just some thoughts,

Yes, it seems unethical to me, for you to create a person to do something that they themselves are unwilling to do.

And that's the thing... if the system mates don't want to do it, why would the other one want to as well?

I know I'd be pissy as hell about it, if it were me.

I actaully had no problem with it. Dizzy created me, partually by accident, to work when she couldn't handle it. Maybe its just my easy going personality, but I had no problem with being created to fullfill a role.
Dizzy has a hard time with it, though. She feels pretty guilty whenever the subject is brought up.

I just read that link and it doesnt sound so bad to me that way because it sounds as if someone is already there sort of. I was created as a clone of my other mom & another person so maybe I am biased :)
It was never intended for me to become a real person though so maybe thats whats different. They asked me once if I was mad about being born as a person after and were surprised when I said no. I think its different for everyone though.

Everytime we have created someone new, since we were about 17 (we are 32 now) it has turned bad on us. We found that being willing to take on new tasks and ideas allowed us to fill our own needs without splitting off further...

We've had decent luck with creation, though your reasons would make a difference in what advice I'd give. Mostly, be careful that the traits you *think* you want are truly the traits needed for the reasons and situations.

Mostly, though, our creation is more of a... guided natural birth, if that makes any sense. Someone new is forming, way back there in the darkness, and we can really focus sometimes and try to pull out the characteristics we need most, or think we need most. Does that make any sense?

Or, we have a form of reincarnation. Like, our Eriel died - faded out more like, and then a few months ago we really needed him, his skills, his particular essence. He wasn't around, but we found that when we called and searched, there was Torch - who is like Eriel 2.0 or something. A different person, but with the same essence. The changes were exactly what we needed for the time and place. It was totally like reincarnation.

Wes and Wind.

That seems more like assistance than outright creation, to me. It sounds very nice. :)

Yes, that makes sense. I agree it does feel like creation, and I don't think there is anything wrong with it, so long as you don't force the new being to be something it doesn't want to be.

I really like your icon. I don't have anything to add to Wes and Wind above, but I just wanted to let you know. I have rooks as.. totems, I guess. And that is the best icon I think I've seen of a corvus.
