I've been meaning to post this for the last few days, but work has tired us out lately. We have a "new" system member, who was defined by my "creation" of a character for a story before I even realized I was a multiple. She didn't make herself known until a few days ago, though.
Her name is Lolita, though she prefers to be called Lo. While I have read the book by her name, she actually named herself after the Gothic Lolita style of dress, because she is a lesbian Goth. She is white and has short, spiky black hair and can be the stereotypical Goth at times, but also knows how to smile and have fun. She doesn't seem to like to front much, preferring to influence instead. I think she's the only system member besides myself (the "core" for lack of a better term) who truly likes the Dark Playgound. I don't think I've described it well or at all here, maybe I will later.
Lo believes in and worships Set, the ancient Egyptian God of chaos, protection, and storms. This makes sense, as we are rather fascinated by Set but she is the only one to really have him in her pantheon. (Set visited me once in a dream, BTW.) She says she would belong to the Temple of Set if she had her own body. Thus, she is a combination of "dark pagan" and "theistic religious Satanist." She loves being called Lo, so she can make this joke:
Me: Lo!
Lo: And behold!
Her favorite band is Evanescence, because it is just so beautiful and Gothic in style. Some of the lyrics speak to all of us, as well... two songs seem to be about inner worlds, and one song seems to imply that Amy Lee (their lead singer) may be a multiple as well.
Yesterday at work we had our "Halloween" costume contest thing, so we came as a Goth girl, thanks to Lo's influence. It was fun, but heels are hard to work in. Especially when you're wearing arm warmers made by cutting the fingers off a pair of costume gloves.
Lo wants to know, since Evanescence is the only Goth rock band she knows of, if anyone can suggest other Goth rock bands?
"Imaginary"
(The "Fallen" version has the intro verse moved to the end. )
oh.. paper flowers
oh.. paper flowers
I linger in the doorway
Of alarm clock screaming monsters calling my name
Let me stay
Where the wind will whisper to me
Where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story
In my field of paper flowers
And candy clouds of lullaby
I lie inside myself for hours
And watch my purple sky fly over me
Don't say I'm out of touch
With this rampant chaos - your reality
I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge
The nightmare I built my own world to escape
In my field of paper flowers
And candy clouds of lullaby
I lie inside myself for hours
And watch my purple sky fly over me
Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming
Cannot cease for the fear of silent nights
Oh how I long for the deep sleep dreaming
The Goddess of imaginary light
In my field of paper flowers
And candy clouds of lullaby
I lie inside myself for hours
And watch my purple sky fly over me
oh.. paper flowers
oh.. paper flowers
On Fallen - track 7 - released 2003. Versions of this track also appear on the Evanescence EP, Origin and 2000 Demos.

"Hello"
(An identical but remixed version of this track appears on 2002 Demos. )
Playground school bell rings - again
Rain clouds come to play again
Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I am your mind giving you someone to talk to
Hello
If I smile and don't - believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream
Don't try to fix me I'm not broken
Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide
Don't cry
Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here
All that's left of yesterday
On Fallen - track 9 - released 2003. This track also appears on 2002 Demos.

Date: 2005-10-30 06:45 am (UTC)Well, it isn't quite that simple... but it works on 3 hours' sleep and two glasses of brandy. ;)
Perhaps it's something to do with the sweet vocals combined with the fairly heavy instrumentals.
I shall examine these presuppositions when I am more coherent.

Anyone know where we can buy some of these bands? Especially, like, MP3's?

Date: 2005-11-03 12:46 am (UTC)Set came to me in a dream once, and I've read a whole bunch of stuff about him from various sources, but mostly from www.xeper.org. I don't take anyone's word for anything, I like to find my own way.
