[identity profile] tigerfae.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] multiplicity_archives
Hello, I'm tigerfae and I'm new here. I kind of stumbled here while looking for otherkin/shapeshifting-type journals. I started thinking, does my interest in those have anything to do with the fact that I am a multiple? Maybe I've split into faeries and tigers and things? I mean, my brain can really do anything it wants, right? Is anyone else interested in otherkin or animorphs or shapeshifting? Is anyone kinda obsessively interested in faeries or things? This is really scary for me and I don't know why. Anyway, sorry to barge in.

hi, i'm kinda new also, i don't think i have posted here at all befor, i am also sorta shy, anyhow one of us is umm, well i dunno what he is, he is mute so i can't ask him, but he isn't human, but not exactly an animal, and we are definitly interested in being animals, and bugs, we very much like bugs, and i often wish iw as a bug, so yeah, we are interested in that sorta stuff

When I was a kid I escaped into my imagination and became a dog or a witch or a gnome. It makes sense to me that - especially a personality that was created at a very young age would be something like that.

Actually, I've done the same thing. The part of me that split off when my sex drive got to strong was a wolf. And I have this thing about werewolves... and we've always joked that my dad was a werewolf because he'd always flip out during the full moon. The night my core first faded was a night he flipped, and it was the full moon.

So yeah, the mind goes all sorts of interesting places, and when you're a multiple, it goes even farther.

old post, I know...

Possibly.

Maybe I've split into faeries and tigers and things?

Quite probably. I have. They don't come out much...animals haven't much use, trapped in a human body. They don't want to come out. Neither do some fae, because they feel weakened. (?!)

Hell yes. Always loved faeries, especially of the dark or neutral kind. Always loved dragons, somewhat into gryphons now...alicorns were okay, but pegasi and unicorns I didn't care for...various "real" animals as well.

Something I've noticed: internal geography seems populated largely by animals similar to, but not the same as, ones found on conventional, "objective" Earth. For instance, we have mountain cats...basically like cougars...but Ranger insists they're not. She also hadn't heard of penguins before, which caused us to giggle rather a lot. Ranger she may be, but she roams our interior and not our exterior. Now if only she'd come up with something useful. :P

shifting dreams, shifting realities

sure, one of our others is a big dragon, says (when he speaks at all, which is rarely) he's our "genetic heritage" and i assume holds memories the rest of us don't really want to see. we only recently saw him again, but he's been there and periodically influential forever; claims to be 3000+ years old, and may indeed be ancestral -- our mom and her sisters are dragon-friends too.

we also frequently, although not recently, have had very odd shapeshifting dreams. seem to come in a few types: shifting to other people we know; merging with alien creatures or devices and learning their shapeshifting talents; and using magic to cause shifting for ourselves or others. i think that's a natural mental representation of how people change in waking life, regardless of where they are on the multiple-median-singlet continuum, but logically, it'd be more common in multiples. once tried to see how our dream journal's shapeshifting, cloning, multiplicity themes corresponded to the real calendar of events we remember, but didn't get very far. they DID seem to occur in unusual clusters whose meaning we haven't fathomed yet.
