Hiya guys,
Just letting you know why I've been out of touch for so long. I'd had some
treatment,
and given a certain drug to help with some pain, which it ended up i was allergic
too,
but because it's such a rare side effect, the Dr's didn't think that
was what the problem
was, and so gave me another medicine to combat the side effect.
End result, Did silly things to my brain (i didn't sleep for a few days and
started acting
very manic) and I've been in hospital for the last few weeks, trying to get my
pain
management under control and sort out the fuss that had happened because of some
very innocent errors on the doctors parts.
It ended up that they usually do medication changes for things like that in the
mental
health ward, and I'm not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing staying
in there,
although i will say that i have plenty of material for a book now!
But I met some really really supportive friends in there who I will definitely be
keeping
in touch with.
I'm staying with some friends for a week, but will be home after that. I'm
sure I've
forgotten to send this to someone but please forward it to them if you realise I
have
and forgive my error.
I hope you are all well! I have had an interesting learning experience, met some
very
interesting people which is all to my advantage.
Please pray for a speedy recovery on my part :)
God Bless,
(crpss posted so sorry that have gotten this a few times)

Date: 2005-05-07 05:50 pm (UTC)I do hope you'll be feeling better soon. Pain management is something of a bitch nowadays. Many effective medications with fewer side effects are now unavailable due to concerns about clients using them to alter their state of consciousness. I think it's drug war paranoia, but there you are.

Date: 2005-05-08 06:10 am (UTC)Yeah... anti-anxiety drugs seem to be the same way. We've had problems with panic attacks and anxiety in the past, but we couldn't get anyone to prescribe us Valium. Everyone claims the same thing, that it's 'dangerous' due to being 'too addictive.' (Well, as far as dangerous goes, I've known several people who've had psychotic reactions to regular antidepressants or antipsychotics, but everyone seemed eager to prescribe those, sometimes in lieu of the anti-anxieties.) Many of us don't even like having to take anything, and only do so as a last resort. I think, like you said, it's the drug war paranoia (although they don't seem to have compunctions in prescribing Ritalin, which is speed for crying out loud) and fear of litigation-- possibly from people driving and getting into accidents while taking the drugs (despite the clear warnings printed on all the bottles telling you NOT to do it).
