[identity profile] kasiawhisper.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] multiplicity_archives
I was thinking it might be a good idea to go through some past posts and place them in Memories under certain topics. Like "relationships" or "introductions" or "medications" , etc. Might make it easier for newer members to perhaps find help or to read what others have written in here in the past.

Just something I was thinking about.. ^_^

The idea of collecting past posts on issues and questions which are repeated a lot was brought up a few months ago. Someone was working on a FAQ. This is an excellent idea, even though it would have to be linked from the community info page and many people apparently don't read that before signing up (note the singlets who lead off with "I don't know if I have the right to be here" even though "singlets welcome" are practically the first words I wrote into the revised community info page last September). I still think there should definitely be a FAQ page with links to articles which discussed commonly occurring questions.

Someone else suggested using a format that would allow for a series of links to former articles which might be helpful, down the side of the screen. This is a great idea, and I might be able to do that myself. Many people simply view this community in their friends' page, but many do not and would see the links.

But we could anyway type the link to the FAQ in the responses when people post these questions.

incoherently yours, Jay (zzzz)

I think I could set that up so that it would be immediately understandable what was being discussed in each one. It will take me a while, however.

Thanks for the really clever idea, which none of us had thought of.

[livejournal.com profile] iamshadow said it, in an entry you'll find under that subject, and we about died laughing. It's become one of our "vocabulary" words, like "flying toaster".

Yeah, that was me, and it's my fault that we don't have one because I had shoved it onto the backburner. I can try to get it done by the end of the weekend if you want. (Of course, that's no guarantee that anyone will read it, like you mentioned, but people who come into the community showing clear evidence of having read it will get... uh. Not preferential treatment, we can't do that. Something. Chocolate.)

i agree - makes the community more user-friendly and may help decrease reiterated posts (not that I think there are any - I don't really know).

There are quite a lot. Anything that would help at this point I'm willing to consider, do myself, or give the go-ahead to others who want to put something together.

I think it would be a really good idea, so people can go right to what they are worried or interested about when they join.

I think it would be an awesome idea, and as for an FAQ, I'd be willing to help create one, as I have some experience designing webpages.
