*flips wings and quietly mrrrs*

Not really sure where to begin here. Hopefully I won't make too much of an ass of myself.

I am Aurora Starwing. A gryphon. Reference picture. Yes, that is me.

I'm what you would call a soulbond I guess. Something along those lines. Not related to any movie, tv series, book, etc. etc. But I've bonded with Katie, though not entirely of my choice, so, from what I've found so far, soulbond is what fits our relationship best.

Katie is obviously the host, mun, whatever. She deals with most of the everday living we go through. I front during those times when I want to speak with the few people I know, and not very often other than that. Interacting in a social setting still puts me into a heavy tailspin.

I guess I'm here to meet more people. I know, closely, a total of two individuals, not including Katie, and frankly, I'm bored out of my skull. I'd like to be able to speak comfortably with more than just those two. I've never been very sociable, but in the position I find myself in currently, there's an extreme lack of anything else to do.

Yeah. Sorry for the disjointedness of this. Nerves will do that I suppose. If questions arise, feel free to ask them.

Lovely to meet you. We don't have anyone inside who looks non-human, although the Andelay are certainly not humans. The picture was gorgeous and gave us a wonderful visual for how beautiful you must look :)

Greetings and welcome. There are plenty of systems with nonhuman members who participate in this community.

Heh, like Us. Almost all of Us are nonhuman. ;) Same with Our SO(s) system.

I'm one of a handful of humans in our system, actually. However, astraea nonhumans are still quite humanoid, with no special or distinguishing features.

what is human?

this is probably a strange question, and maybe it should be asked in a separate post, but I suppose we are feeling a little awkward and as usual embarrassed by it so we will hide it in here.

It's the whole human/non human thing. What makes someone human. We used to always think human refered to the people that live in this Earthen world. Human therefore meant the same as Earthling. So none of us, well except Abra and she's a vampire so not really human... anyway, this is confusing for us as you might be able to tell by this rambly post. Is human simply about looking like people look on this planet? Or is it about being from this planet?

Ok I get that, but that still doesn't really help me define what the species of human is? It probably isn't that big a deal, it just sort of frustrates me.

When we say "human" we usually mean people from the Earthen world. However we also realize there are nonhumans who are native to the Earthen world as well -- vampires, and elves, for instance. It definitely, to us, isn't just what a person looks like. None of this is cast in concrete.

I suppose its sort of a cop-out, but as far as multiples and soulbonds and kin of whatever sort are concerned, I've always considered human to simply be "identifies with and/or sees self as human."

We define the human members of Our system by the fact that they are simple humans, just like the body, and have no other form or species. The majority though are therians or animals. We define therian normally as a human who feels like they have the spirit of an animal, although in Our system, We can take the form of the animal spirit on the inside (many can also take an "anthro" form as well). Some of Us are just animal though and don't have a human form inside.

I have changed the community info page to reflect that nonhuman members of systems are perfectly welcome here.

You are most welcome. I wish we had stated that in the community info already. It's always been this community's policy since [livejournal.com profile] asrai_d founded it, to allow everyone in. Well, it's there now.

i'm a species of humanoid *physically speaking* but i am not *human, i am in fact only half human due to my Father*. i have claws, fangs & both of those are poisonous. Do i relate to humans? yes & no. yes its hard to not feel alienated sometimes but there are others around that i've come to know thru lj & other sources i can relate to when ifeel that way.

(cuts this short as a long winded way to say hello & welcome).

hmm, sounds familiar.
quiet time is not so bad - thinking and watching can be relaxing. many people don't have the freedom to be so removed from the world. it can be an interesting point of perspective.

at any rate, hello.

Many of our animals (especially the fish!) don't know how to communicate to others on the physical plane.

The faes and so forth just generally choose not to.

Tis quite lovely to meet you though.
