[identity profile] sethrenn.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] multiplicity_archives
Question: Would anyone find it useful to compile a FAQ for new members? There seem to be a lot of postings here lately, and honestly, I've noticed that the same questions seem to get asked over and over. I wouldn't say it really annoys me, but although I want to help people out, it does get a little repetitive posting the same basic answers all the time. Frequent questions, frequently referenced links, maybe a guide to terminology (I know terminology preference is an individual thing, but there are some terms that we, and other systems we know of, find offensive when applied to us)-- well, it's up to popular consensus, I guess. Opinions? (More to the point, would people actually read it?)

I think the bottom of the FAQ should have links to help sites as well such as Astrea and Blackbirds (I have them around somewhere) since one of the first question is "where?". We'd be willing to help too. Hardest part is that a lot of systems are very different (and while some people are offended by certain vocab words, others are not).

It would help some people out, and for the ones that can't be bothered, it would give everyone else something to point at while they laugh at them. :)

That is a very sensible idea. Terminology, a guide to links and a list of frequently asked questions all sound very helpful.

Being a newbie who doesn't know a ton about this kind of thing, I'd appreciate that. ^_^ The terminology guide sounds like a good idea as well.
