I have decided to make the switch. I was talking about it... but now I'm really going to do it.

I am changing my name. I have gotten tired of the whole given name thing... and I do not want to be named after the body. This is Jenny's body, and always has been. I have decided that I do not want to give the impression that this is my body. I have been thinking about this for a very long time.

I am changing my name to Pan, short for Pandora. There is a long explination and story behind this name and why I have chosen it. Someday, I might explain it.

Goddess, give me strength.

Names can be both very confusing and empowering. I have a given name, I use it to the outside world though nobody inside answers to it. Its the name my parents gave me and well as far as I'm concerned, its as good as any other way of referring to Us as a whole. I stick with the name my parents gave me because its doesn't bother me too much and it keeps things simple for the outside world.

When its an issue (which is rare) and I'm with somebody I trust, I'll identify which of Us is speaking. But that's only happened once in the last few years.

Many of the others inside don't react or turn around to the body's name and they will correct people.

Those of my friends who are also hosts for others usualy know to start cycling through names if they're not being listened to.

My big brother R**** will call Selena's name if he doesn't get an answer to Jen or Tigress (my park name).

Through reading this body's (the collective) written journal, I am seeing that there are 2 (including myself) that go by Sandy, and one who uses the full given name of Sandra Rose, even though her actual name is just Rose.

Everyone else will answer to either Sandra or Sandy, unless they are being spoken to by someone who knows about everyone, in which case it is usually "I'm not Sandy, I'm_______"

*(nods)* that's usualy how I am. I correct people when they call me Jenny. I don't like to be called Jenny.

Why does the body belong to Jenny? You both live in it. Why doesn't it belong to both of you?

It was originaly her body, so I don't think of it as my body, really.

It's not really. I'm the current dominant, so I'm in the body most... but it was still originaly her body, and I keep to remember that. It doesn't really bother me (except when I take to thinking about how I got here, and what basicaly happened to her afterwards).

I mean... ok. I suppose it's OUR body, together... because we all share it. It just wasn't always OUR body. Ya know?

I have my own name. All of us do. Maybe Jenny would like her own name too.

They wouldn't be not equal is what I meant. I mean there isn't any reason why they wouldn't be equal. (I usualy seem to say exactly what I don't mean... sorry.)

Jenny hasn't ever said anything about wanting to change her name. I suspect she doesn't mind since it's actualy /her/ name, cus she was born to that name. But if she ever decides to change her name, I'm not going to tell her that she can't. It's her decision, not mine.

What I'm thinking of: you don't know for sure that you're going to continue to be the dominant front in the future, or that the system won't change over to having several co-dominant people. Perhaps if nobody likes the body's name, you could change it to something which doesn't reflect anyone in the system in particular, if it's the birth name you want to get rid of? After all, what if there is some kind of change in the system and someone turns out to be unhappy with the name thing?

I don't see why they would be? I guess if there's a problem, we'll discuss it. I didn't have a name. I adopted Jen... that's why I changed it... so I'd have my own name.
