I have a lot of people in my head, I'm not sure how to get them all to speak. I think a lot of them are asleep... and as the dominant, I'm really not sure what to do.

My boyfriend went soul searching, aparently I have 13 entities inside my body (not sure if that includes ME). Three are demons, and already, about four (Jen, Selena, Marrilyn, and a new one, Naomi (whom I knew about, but has been silent for about a year)) of those do any speaking and are active... that I know about. I'd like to get in touch with the other six or so, but I don't know how to.

I was wondering if anyone has advice to me, if anyone has experience this.

Does anyone have this large of an ammount of people living with them?

We have about 17 of Us in here, so We can relate there. And We have also found that it is quite normal (at least for Us) for there to be some that are fairly quiet/dormant for extended periods of time.

The only suggestion I have for getting "in touch" with the Others is to tempt them out. Start doing things/reading things, etc that they enjoy. Sometimes that works for Us.

Sure, there can be a handful of people or a lot. There's no rule on that.

And yes, it's very routine for someone to absent themselves from the front. The previous poster had good suggestions... provide them with things they enjoy and let them know they are welcome.

If you can't speak to the others at the moment... do you know whether Jen, Selena or Marrilyn could? Perhaps they could sort of pass messages, even if just to say "hey, [livejournal.com profile] adreamerforme would like to talk to you sometime", or just to let them know they're welcome to come further up front or whatever if they want to...

(and there's around nine of us, btw (er, depending how you count)... I don't think thirteen is unusual, in fact I'd have guessed it was about average.)

Yeah, absolutely. They might be dormant for a reason. Sometimes certain people in here disappear and they come back when they feel like it. Not to sound cheesy or anything, but you'll find them when the time is right.

Agreeing with the above poster, thirteen does not seem to be a particularly high number for a system. Many of the systems I know have more members than that.

17 is actually a small number of people to have.. *smiles* We have about 30 regular people here, and almost 100 Clan people. And the system that we're close to has probably over 1000.

It's completely normal for us to have people go dormant for a while. We just assume they're doing their own thing inside, because they usually are.

There are about 15-16 of us here. I can;t offer any advice on tempting the quiet ones out though. We have the same problem. Sometimes I think it's better just to let them stay in te background if they want to.

We numbered in the 200s one time long ago; one system we have close ties to numbered over 1500 and the avg we've seen is around 50.

dormancy is normal too it seems.

Oh, and also, I'm not sure if you meant active & speaking in the outside world when you said that four of you are active -- but it's not necessary to do any fronting at all to exist. My sister Sláva fronts very infrequently, and two others I don't think have ever come to the front, but I know they're around.

Hmm... well, first I need to ask... was it entirely your boyfriend telling you that these other people were sharing your body, or was it more of a cooperative effort between you and him trying to find out who all was in there? I can tell you that we've had run-ins with some people before who insisted they had identified new people in our system, people who didn't actually exist-- if they ever did exist, it was only as roles we acted to keep the other parties happy. So you may be chasing after shadows here. Ultimately, it is up to you/your system to decide who exists within it. Even if your boyfriend meant well, he can't make the final decision on who exists as an independent person.

If the ones you mentioned not being able to get in contact with are not currently active in the general day-to-day operations of the system, my best advice would be to not pursue it for now-- concentrate on developing relations and communications with those you -can- speak with and are sure of the existence of. Things may well balance themselves out in time, if you can get healthy relationships going with the four you already mentioned.
