I just wanted to thank everyone in this community that offered their support and advice in our time of need regarding a very dangerous situation with Armand. I use to stupidly think a long time ago that all multiples would be somewhat the same and then as I slowly met more and more (although none in real life still), it didn't seem that way at all. Similarities yes, but so many unique differences. So it was fascinating and very helpful to go so much different input.

If anyone is concerned, right now, things are okay. Like I said before, I volunteered to be stripped of all weapons and I made myself stay at home away from Josh until I felt it was safe enough. During our time apart, I made a lot of discoveries about Armand's reasonings behind everything. There is no doubt he was capable of doing what he put his mind to. If in his own body, and not mine of a female (although fit, not the strength compared to a fit man), he would of inflicted serious damage or worse, he would have killed Josh and we'd be in jail. But this body does limit him. I suppose we can be thankful for that. But despite all the rage and anger, his feelings of love and protection for me, that was a different motive that I never suspected in his reaction towards Josh.

When things became serious between Josh and I, when it was stated he was going to be around forever, and that kind of thing; Armand's main concern does appear to be protection. To make a long story sort, his attack on Josh was a test. To see if he was capable of taking care of us, or handling us more or less. To make sure I guess I wasn't seeing some pansy?! Armand believes a lot is said about someone in a fight, and to prove oneself , that was the only way. In ancient tribes (actually still some today), you can see young warriors and tell if they've past certain tests of courage and bravery by the symbols or marks they wear. We do not have that in today's society. In Armand's time, a lot rode on a reputation, and he has quite the reputation. Challenges were a way of seeing if someone was cut out for the job so to speak. Armand needed proof Josh could protect me from others if needed, but also if he could protect me.... from myself.

When this all came to my mind and I was wondering if this was the reasoning or not, Armand stood still and came out of the shadows, laid the revolver down, smiled at me knowingly and walked away. All day I caught glimpses of him with that smile.

We're not completely out of the woods, no doubt Armand will challenge Josh again. But I don't believe he'll ever kill him. Josh proved his worth. But Armand still is in love with me, and his first duty is my protection and honor.

For right now, all is right.

Wow!

Wow! That is a good reasoning. I had not thought of it in this way. That does make a lot of sense. I'm glad things have calmed down a bit and that you are safe. That is always the goal for anyone.

I understand the feelings of needing to do things the "right" way as opposed to the way that things are currently done, but Armand does need to either stay out of the front or learn to deal with things the way that is acceptable among the society you are currently part of. Saying "that's not the way I do things" really isn't horribly acceptable. Especially when "the way it should be done" could end up with everyone loosing liberties (like being locked up).

Duty is a strong thing. He can protect you best by not doing anything that could end up with your collective ass in jail. And he needs to learn the rules of the society he is currently part of well enough to know what threatens your liberty.

We have dealt with this somewhat by having a "user interface layer" who isn't really a person - it's more like a filter. If the action is not acceptable, no matter who (or how many) are pushing it forward, it doesn't go through. Sometimes we just stand there looking confused, but at least we don't get ourselves in deadly situations too often anymore. It works with word best - translating whatever we're thinking into English - although sometimes we have to tweak it (it once was set to automatically convert references to "black" people to "african american" when spoken - and we ended up talking about black people in ancient greece and referring to them as "african americans". oops.) The user interface layer breaks when sufficient pain is applied - but when it breaks, something comes out that I cannot remember - it's just a red splot on the collective memory. A red splot that people have a tendency to get hurt in. It's only happened a few times, fortunately, and the situations were such that my flipping out was viewed as an (almost) appropriate response.

anyway, that's my 6 cents. to quote "the good of the many outweighs the good of the one" is nowhere more true than in a collective system.
