This is back in late 2000. It was a restricted-access Yahoo discussion group, "MPD/DID Only". Supposedly run by a couple of multiples, it turned out they were actually psychiatrists collecting info. Someone saw the name of one of the moderators as a psychiatrist on aanother forum somewhere else and blew the whistle on them, there was an enormous row and people left the list in droves. BoyyM still runs that discussion group as far as we know. No word on who the cohort was or is.
BoyyM used to call himself OlPsyBoyyM. His real name is Michael Spendlove. (Andy: At least, that is the name he was using at that time.) He once tried to join our old First Person Plural webring. Andy wrote to him pointing out it was fairly obvious he was a psych, particularly his complete partyline approach and the questions the survey asked at that time. It was a lot more detailed than it is now. He wrote back calling himself "dragnskidz". He said he'd put up the website because he'd gotten so many email inquiries after the many MPD/DID chats he had held on AOL. What we mind is not that he's a shrink but that he pretends to not be one and collects info on plurals. (Which he uses how?) This is the type of thing I think duathir was concerned about when he wrote this post (http://www.livejournal.com/community/multiplicity/111549.html). You can't very well stop something like that on livejournal though, unfortunately, & is why everybody should be careful what they reveal about themselves online.
