*points to what pengke said*. Also we've known 2 groups who did say "system" for "operating system" and called their group something else. But whatever works for you, as long as people you're talking/writing to understand what you mean.
For us it's radio terminology. We've had plenty of technical difficulties, mostly with communication between here and the homeworld; transmitters might go fft, although most of the problems are with translators and the time differential is a factor. Loss of co-consciousness isn't usually one of them, however -- that works a little too well. (can't hide birthday presents!)
Remembering the last group we knew that used computer ops... Can you make backups?
