Hiya everyone.

My name is Annabelle. I don't really consider myself a multiple but I guess I am. Ash & I do have different personalities & outlooks on life, different likes & dislikes and things, so I guess we are. Erm... sorry. It's a bit difficult writing so I guess I'll get on with the questions. Not that it's difficult writing, or... poo. eright. I'll start again.

Hiya. I'm Annabelle. I share a body with Ash. He's male, I'm not. The body is male. I don't have any deep seated trauma that I know of & neither does he & it seems to only be the two of us in here. I don't have a system or anything, I'm not sure what one is. Sometimes he's in charge & sometimes I am. Girly things bring me to the surface, manly things him. Erm... Anything else?

Sometimes one of us is completely asleep and sometimes we are almost pearing over the other's shoulders & occasionally we both try to control the body at once. We mostly agree on things but sometimes argue or disagree.

I want to ask some questions so here goes:

* Only two - is that usual?
* If there was no trauma how did I come to be? I read something about dreams, and these forming conciousness?
* Could someone give me a brief definition of terms? I know front (I say "up") but what other terms are used commonly?

probabaly no more unusual then any other number.

so like, trauma based theory teaches that multiplying up can 'cause the individual to go on unaware of the trauma'.
on the other hand, the assertation that trauma is a requirement for brain fragging is a pretty shaky stance. healthy multiplicity says that multiplicity can be a naturally occuring trait, and several here claim they had no traumatic experience. were pretty sure our first split was trauma initiated, but myself and a few of my fukers originated later with no trauma involved.

-fronting- being 'up', driving.
-backseating- being awake/conscious/whatever but not directly fronting
-system- term used to describe the 'population' in one body, frequently used in describing internal relationships. ie: my 'system' is about 14 of us with about 4 regularly active ones.
-littles- child members of a system
-bigs- adult? members of a system.
-furries- animal members of a system
-switching- change-over of whose fronting
-face person- generic-loosefitting category of persons likely to front the majority of the time. 'meet the public'
-function person- genericly descriptive catagory of persons seemingly existant for specified tasks or purposes. found to be a demeaning term by some.
-protector- generic catagory for person not likely to front unless stuff is out of hand and they sense theres days to be saved or arses to be kicked.
-healthy multiplicity- the subject of treating multiplicity/mpd/did/whateverelse as a 'way of being' rather then a 'disorder' and dealing with multi-related issues that interfere with living spiffy, rather then trying to 'solve' being multiplied.

:: smiles :; there are all sorts of ways to come to be, or atleast we think there are, anyone may feel free to correct us if they believe we're wrong... but any that we put forward ar just suggestions, there are some of us that are the result of trauma but others are the result of dreams, others we believe are past lives, atleast one we know was an "imaginary friend" that we created and took on a life of her own, others were created from necessity and others to balance out what we already were... there are quite a few of us in here ...

We are only two (at least, only two that use the body), and not trauma-based. We are usually peering over each other's shoulders, though lately we do not jostle for position as much as coexist in relative calm. *grin* We call each other 'mind-brothers'. I was a walk-in - that is, I did not originate in the body, but came from somewhere else (the exact location is not important). My 'brother' was born in the body.

As far as we know, a 'system' is merely the word for a collective of people inhabiting one form - anywhere from two to two million, I suppose. We aren't up on the other oft-used terms, to be honest.

we are a system of nine. I'm Rick, and usually Faith, Liz, and Tara also front...there is also Rachel(who's thinking of changing her name), cubbie, Wolf, the twins(who are identical except for the fact one is male, one's female, one is dark, one is caucasian, and their hair color is opposite of their skin color, but they're in a constant state of flux of all of it;) and the Girl who Screams...we don't know if she has a name...

we're all capable of fronting, and all have at some point or other...

our body is female, and originally belongs to Liz, although Rachel spent most of our life in it...

I'm what you call a main fronter(well that's what we call it anyhow)in other words, I have a life in the real world...friends, and such...although Faith,Tara and Liz are rapidly building lives also...

Heya. I'm Carrie. I'm the woman just crazy enough to date this pair. Or they're crazy enough to date me. I'm not quite sure...

Ash and Annabelle are in the UK, I'm in the US. I'd been over to the UK a few times and knew Ash as part of a larger circle of friends. I knew about Annabelle but had never met her. About eight months ago Ash and I started exchanging e-mails of a flirtatious nature. One of the first questions I asked was about Annabelle. I liked the answers I got. Annabelle and I started exchanging e-mails of a flirtatious nature.

Time passes and here we are. We had about two weeks together at Easter-time and proved compatible in the flesh as well as via the internet. I've been reading a lot about crossdressing and multiples and oddly named british food like Spotted Dick in my preparation for my moving over in September to start grad school. *is excited*

They're different and wonderful in their own ways. But I love both of them. How best to explain it? A few years ago when I was working in an elementary school I ran across a book about two brothers asking their mother who she loves most. She says she loves one brother blue like she loves water and nighttime and the sky, and she loves the other red like fire and daytime and the sun. Not a question of "most" - a question of "how". It was a cute book, I'll have to see if I can track it down.

I think it's actually very normal to have small systems (2-3 people). We actually only have 4 frontrunners, sometimes a fifth-- there are more people who don't frontrun, though, so I'm not sure whether that would qualify us as a small system in most people's opinion.

It also depends on the type of protector and the system-- I know some who are extremely effective in defusing situations, but would never use physical violence, and, in fact, are even sworn against it.

* Population varies - some people are an army of one, others are small cities. The number isn't locked in stone either. Some groups have people join/leave/merge with others in their group.

Anybody interested in setting up a poll on this community on population counts?

* I was taught that the potential to be/become multiple is not uncommon, but mainstream culture strongly discourages it so people who are plural naturally are rather rare. Children who are capable of it can be traumatized into being multiple.

* check the faqs ksol1460 listed, and Candy of Changelyng's list is good. Other phrases for system include household, group, inside people, inside family... If someone uses a term and you aren't sure, feel free to ask - you might get several different answers and start up a good discussion!

We are only Three,

We're all Male, In a male body,. Yet extremely in touch with the femanine side. I'm Gay, and well Frost Is Bi-sexuall, near as I can figure it,. and Well, Jake is Jake.

I thought it a little uncommon for us to be so few. I actually thought it was a little intimidating joining a community, that seemed to have soo many Users with sooo Many Other's in their house. but we still feel like we belong.

We didn't have any Major Trauma either, But my dear Friend elenbarathi describes it best as,.

"Whatever happens, Happens, There is no difference between Real or Dreaming."

I've taken this to heart as much as I possibly can.

you just have to remember "The world is a strange and mysterious place, so you have to try and not let it bother you when something strange and mysterious happens."

Other than that I hope you feel welcome. and If Possible I would like to add you to my friends list if that's O.K.

Also When I'm not up, I feel like I'm asleep, although Frost points out that I do Other things.

Anyways, We sleep when were not up as well most of the time. Frost does untill he chimes in with his 2 Cents. *Cheeky Bastard* So we understand where you are coming from.

-two isnt unusual. it was just cody and i for the longest time growing up. we had a few walk ins who would come and go, but over the recent year our numbers have shot up to about two dozen -_-; a few of them are splits of myself, a lot of them are natives of our inner world who joined the system. things can change a lot like that ^^

-we still debate which happened first... the realization that we were multiple, or the abuse. more and more the evidence is pointing to me not actually being the original, because cody is the only one who can clearly remember anything before the age of 6... there are a few blurry memories before that, but yeah..
our life was very messed up by any standards, but to put it as one of our room mates said "wow... considering the years of abuse, id say you arent doing too shabby!" ^^;

i believe in natural multiples though. its still possible we were before all the abuse.. ::shrugs::

anyways, welcome to the community. its really safe and most of the people are very nice :3

Hmpf. In my System, there exist 3, myself included. Nighthawk and Chris are male, unfortunately, and I'm female. I hate it! The male form is so ugly and disgusting! I cannot believe I have been degraded to sharing a male body. Ugh. Of all things horrid and disgusting...

Hmm...as I know it, there was no trauma with Nighthawk and I coming to Chris. We have been here since his birth. Unfortunately, we were unable to communicate with him until he was involved in a car accident back in 1992. Still a small child, he hit his head hard on the dashboard of the car. The doctors said he was fine and sustained no damage. Well, something must have been knocked loose. From that point on, we were able to talk to him, though he was not able to talk to us. ...This was changed about 2 weeks ago when he sustained another blow to the head, courtesy of myself. Face it, he had it coming. Anyways, he can fully communicate with us now.

If I have survived this long, and am still going strong, you should be able to do the same. Just be glad you don't have to share the body with two males, one a normal boy, and the other, a vampire who is too honorable for his own damn good.
