1. What's been your most 'classic' multiple moment? (Meaning finding someone loudly proclaiming his gay maleness at a women's book club or whatever, not trauma stuff.)

2. What's been the most humorous moment related to being multiple?

3. What's the stupidest comment you've ever gotten from someone about multiplicity (yours or in general)?

4. What's the best comment or support you've ever gotten?

5. Pick one system mate and say what you like best about them or sharing a life with them.

I will answer these in the comments later too, I just ran short on time. :)

[livejournal.com profile] spiralicons is a new community is for mentally ill LiveJournal denizens to find icons and to display icons that they have made relating to mental illness. All aspects of mental illness are relevant. We speak madness here.

I'm quite certain that R. and Ar. are aware and thinking when they're not paying attention to what's going on outside our head, whether or not they're near the front.

I can't say the same - I seem to be wired to the outside world. Even when someone else is fronting, anything that happens involving the body seems to end up flagged for my imedate attention. I also have to be careful not to think about anything too complex, as I'll accidentally push them away from the front. We're getting rather tired of it.

So, does anyone know of a way to detach more thoroughly?

I have a question I'm not sure how to phrase... I've seen symbols like ^ and & being used around people's names, in the context of multiple systems. I think I understand the general idea of it, but in all my research I've yet to come across a clear definition for them--or any definition at all, really. Can someone define these symbols (in the context of multiples), with some examples perhaps?

Also, a word to some of the newer members of the community. )

(At the shop, Pointer & Pickles.)

"Are you, er, Pickles or Pointer?" said Vimes, as a last resort.
"I'm Miss Pickles, dear. Miss Point-" She stopped. Her expression changed, became slightly younger and considerably more alert.
"And I'm Miss Pointer, dear," she said. "Don't worry about Pickles, she just runs the body when I've got other things to do. Are you Commander Vimes?"
Vimes stared. "Are you telling me you're two people? With one body?"
"Yes, dear. It's supposed to be an illness, but all I can say is we've always got along well."
