I chose to call myself Mercury for a reason

Hey, everyone...

From the user info page I thought I'd announce my presence here as a psych student, but I'm not interested in you people as guinea pigs... I have a seriously unorthodox fetish for the "crazies"... schizofrenia, multiples, furries, gender dysphoria... the people who don't belong, who feel out of place in their own skin, who are too much for themselves.

I wish I could live a thousand different lives sometimes, be the virgin and the whore and the child and the adult, the man and the woman. Being bisexual definitely raised some questions in my mind about whether or not I really wanted this female body of mine.

Don't be offended when I say part of me is jealous. But I guess you'd understand about "parts"... wouldn't you?

EDIT: I don't fetishize any of you, I have a tendency to use words offhand, I don't think about any of you or your friends naked in the shower to get my rocks off, I'm young, I'm dumb, I talk a lot, I would never in a million years dare to compare any of you to furries, or try to pretend any of you are anything like me, because that would be damn insulting, etc.

There.

Just a warning, you might wanna reword your post if you don't wanna offend people... some of the people here are a wee bit sensitive. ^^;

Singlets who are interested in learning about multiplicity are welcome here. I would encourage interested parties to take the view of a postmodern anthropologist-- don't assume what anyone else's truth is; let them tell you for themselves what it is.

I, for one, am all around confused by this post.

haha. I think it's kind of amusing. Hi person. I'm not furry, but I'm a guy in a girl's body and I'm jokinly referred to as fishkin. I'm not really a fish, but I have fish qualities.

Hi I'm multiple and a furry.

Welcome to the world.

Fetish is kind of objectifying, but you're the first person who's admitted it up front, so bonus points for that, at least.

*raises hand* I'm(we're) a m2f multiple... Do I get a prize or something? :p

Hehe... And I hear you about your attractions. I've always been drawn to people with similar "problems." Not that I would consider multiplicity as such anymore.

Welcome to the community, kinky Mercury.

I think you're a wee bit "crazy". But fun. I like you :P.

I am not a multiple, by the way. I'm here to learn just as you are.

Hi and welcome. As someone already mentioned, singlets (psych students or not) with good intentions are always welcome here. If you browse around the links on the info page and such you'll get some good information, and if you're wanting a more personal perspective there are quite a few systems out there with their own FAQs (all systems are unique and can vary from other systems in many aspects) - we have a webpage (http://shadowechoes.silentshadows.net) with an FAQ and some background info about our system if you're interested (I guess we might spark your curiosity - we're a system comprised mostly of therians/otherkins and there are a handful of males as well - so we definitely have an understanding of feeling out of place in our own skin) and wouldn't mind answering any other questions you might have for us via email or lj. In general, a lot of people here in the community are always willing to answer questions - so don't feel shy about asking. It's better to ask than assume, right?

Heya, sexy. I love being fetishized, looks like I picked a great day to check my friends list.

You've got balls posting this, I'll say that for you. Nice to meet you.

[identity profile] pengke.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're under the mistaken impression that being multiple is somehow wacky or Different. It's not. We're not "people who don't belong, who feel out of place in their own skin, who are too much for themselves". We're just people who happen to share our body with other people.

You don't even seem to have much of a concept of what multiplicity is. It's not a role playing game. We don't "live a thousand different lives." Each one of us in a body is an individual. If one's a virgin, they can't also be a whore. If one's male then he's only a man. He has no clue what it's like to be a woman. If his body is female, he doesn't even have a clue what it's like to be a man in a male body. Nor is multiplicity in anyway comparable to a part of you being jealous. We're not sides of someone's personality.

Eh...

you might be interested in me as a schizoaffective transgender multiple. But then, you've also got to realize what it looks like from this side. There's no guarantee I'll want to have anything to do with a random curious stranger on the 'net who fetishizes me without understanding me. That might just be me being jaded, but I get tired of people assuming I have no choice but to be their friend, to be used and thrown away (or clung to because of personal insecurity). Anyway, I'm here, but I can't help but be a bit wary.

Sorry about being blunt. I evolved to stand up for the system's needs regardless of protest from outside...

F*ck. My post just got eaten alive. Maybe it's for the best.

Why do you fetishize schizophrenics? It's not like it's easy to be schizophrenic, especially if one has to deal with affective flattening, apathy, thought disorder, impaired self-care, etc. I could see how someone might think hallucinations or delusions were fun, but from my time in schizophrenia communities, I don't think that they would seem that way to the schizophrenic.

Gender dysphoria isn't that glamorous either. All it means is that one has the mind of one gender and the body of another. Generally speaking, one doesn't live being first a girl and then a boy, or vice versa; one lives being a boy in a female body and then a boy in a masculinized body (or vice versa), IF we're talking about those people who do transition, who are also fully transsexual.

As for multiplicity...*sigh* What I seem to be trying to say is that you're trivializing what are in reality serious disorders (sans "furries"). I realize that not everyone sees multiplicity as a disorder (like a lot of people don't see homosexuality or gender identity disorder as a "disorder"), but there are some multiples who do.

Hi, Mercuryisme. I think you and I have some things in common. I too have a love for the strange, unusual, & deviant, & I think it's perfectly fine to seek out these aspects of life. I've always considered myself one of "the people who don't belong", and been proud of it. I am not multiple per se, but I am "plural" -- that is, I have "parts" so to speak, although they prefer to be called thoughtforms.

Fetishism doesn't bother me, either. I think it's one of those interesting kinks of life. Hmm... I wonder if anyone has ever had a fetish for fetishism? I would be delighted if someone fetishized my oddities, since I've worked so hard developing and nurturing them. I think it's different, however, for those who did not choose their differences. People who are "just born" a certain way often try hard to fit in & be normal, whereas those who seek to go beyond the edges have the opposite point of view. Rather ironic, isn't it?

If you are "jealous" of plurality, why don't you try making thoughtforms of your own? (Or "parts", "aspects", "subpersonalities", "imaginary friends", etc. depending on what you want to call them.) Give each aspect of yourself a name and identity, & imagine what they would say and do. Over time, they will become more detailed, complex and individual. I can help you do this if you are interested.

One of This Party's slogans: "Don't get jealous, get your own."

I'd like to talk with you on IM. Unfortunately, I've mainly been on during the nights recently, although I've been trying to shift my schedule over to the day. What times are you usually around?
