That sounds hard. I thought & thought about it but sorry I dont know what it is.

Are you allowed to question the one who posed it to you? 'Cause we could probably help if we knew whether or not it was supposed to be an object, an abstract concept, or a building.

Not even a hint? Ouch. Hm. Four dials on a wall, each with the alphabet, and a riddle beneath. The cryptex from The DaVinci code? No, that's a cylinder, blast... sorry we couldn't be of more help. That's really a doozy of a riddle she's given you!

It certainly seems that way.

Yes, it is. And as long as you credit (we've got it in the userpic gallery, just copy-paste), feel free to. Oh, and noting that you got it from us would be nice.

From what we know about riddles... this one sounds like the first one is pointing to the second one... so there should be that part about the door, and then four riddles below it... so the first answer to the first riddle, would be Draw...

*blink* Begod, that sounds like something out of The Face in the Frost.

Well, the first thing that occurs to me is that the sixteen (4 sets of four) dials are telephone dials. Have you ever seen one? Just as with a push-button phone, the letters of the alphabet are printed on the dial and associated with certain numbers. I wonder does this have something to do with the idea of a "clue phone", but I'm probably reaching there.

I love rotary phones. I wish you could get them now that would still rotate and make clicky sounds but register as touch-tone over the phoneline.

Hey! There's a lady down the road from us who still has a rotary phone and it still works....And it makes clicky sounds too. I love it!

It's some kind of decoder ring. Go to Google, write "four dials" alphabet in the field and click "I feel lucky". That will take you to a website that describes it in more detail.

Please share when you get the answer! The first thing that came to my mind was a telephone...
