nitemares

hi every one
i am "little" at least thats what every one says but most of the time i dont feel that way so i guess im just a child that doesnt know my age, sorry.
lately ive been havin nitemares about monsters. when the monsters are there i cant really see them but i get a feeling its like monsters like freddie kruger or the clown man from the movie It but its really not them, there really just diffrent people like you would meet every day like someone you can meet down the street. thats what scares me, that the monsters can be regular people. i get scared that people are going to hurt me or get in my bedroom. it causes me to stay up real late at nite and worry and not want to fall asleep again cause i dont want the bad dreams. then some of the other kids get the same dreams i have and it scares them as much as me.
what can stop the bad dreams and scary thoughts?
kiddo

I never like bad dreams. When my dreams get bad I change them. One boy was in my dream one time and he turned into a monster so I flew away from him to the roof of a house. One time I had a candle and I made a spell for keeping bad dreams away. Some times I know when the others have a bad dream and I can see it. You can lock your door and windows and have a small light on at night. Johnna puts boxes under her bed so nothing else can hide under there. I don't know what else. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo Kalli

can you try to get one of the grown ups to come out and take care of you when you are scared? that works for us sometimes..

We've got a set of bells on a string (http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=K051758GF) that sit on our doorknob. A nightlight or a stuffed animal might help.

*nods* we have an agreement in our group - kids know that they can yell for a grown-up here anytime and they'll come take care of anything scary or confusing.

Last night I had a dream with an ordinary-person-monster in it, and I realized it was a dream, so I said (I'm not sure if I said it in my head or out loud) very clearly, "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming, and now I'm going to wake up!" And I clicked my heels together three times just to make the point. At first nothing happened. Then I tried to imagine very hard that I was under water (not difficult when you feel trapped) and going up (not swimming up, just automatically going up) to the surface, and the monster-person faded, and I felt the pressure of the water rushing past me, and then I was awake.

Then later I had another dream with the same monster-person in it, and because I was somewhat aware that it was a dream (so I could get out of it), I could start trying to figure out what it was. (Sometimes when you stop being afraid and instead investigate or ask questions, it turns out the monster isn't all that bad, or if it's bad it's not all that strong.)

What some people in here do when they are afraid to go to sleep is to imagine a favourive person or animal watching over them. This often works, because the things they're afraid of are also imaginary. (Or if you think the dream monsters are symbols of something real you're afraid of, the protector you think of can also be a symbol of something real.)
