multiples in role-playing

people on my friends list will have heard about this already, but hey, I thought it was kind of funny.

Some of us here like to role play, we prefer journal-based ones, and we do a lot of Harry Potter ones. We have a certain character we play, Morag McDougal, and she's multiple. So, we applied for this game and they wrote back saying they needed proof we could play a multiple because of all the people who use it as an excuse for bad behaviour and have no idea how it works. They also said 8 personalities sounded like a lot of work.

All true, of course, but funny when you apply it to us. We had a few snappy comebacks that Nara wouldn't let me use in the first reply, and then they accepted us after that so we didn't get a chance to use them at all.

At least they let you play. :o)

I've heard before about people/lists that've got funny with systems just for using more than one name, or claiming that the system has an unfair advantage or is cheating, or shit like that. Sounds like you found a decent mod.

we play in a buffy rp, I played buffy, Faith and Tara played - shock - Faith and Tara and Wolf played Giles...luckily our GM is also multiple, so it's not a prob...

We're part of the Camarilla. I've heard Janessa asking our ex-ST (who also happens to be my best friend) if it'd be possible if she could get a membership for herself instead of using my membership. She wants to have her own primary character, see. I usually play, but Janessa likes to play my mage character, and Eve used to play my Brujah (vampire) from time to time. Janessa is also involved in D&D.

I wonder if we could convince the good people at White Wolf to allow Janessa to get a membership, or if they'd balk because it's the same physical body? Yeah, I didn't think so either. Oh well.

Heh, yeah, that's one of the first things you tend to get-- "but won't it be too complicated?" Either that, or they try to insist that you take it as a 'character disability,' usually some form of 'insanity.' ~_~ The idea that everyone might actually try to work together is, apparently, too weird.

Possibly only because they might perceive it as cheating to have that many cooperative people on board. *grin*

I'm in some chat based RPG's, and honestly, I'd not mind them saying "You sure about that?" or a bit of a test run or something. There's a couple folks who play multiple characters straight out of Sibyll *cringe*, one who seems to have a decent grasp of the idea, and then there's this girl in a wheelchair for a lower spinal cord injury that just makes me cringe because they character has been in a chair for 11 years, but the girl is drawing off of her own clumbsy attempts at maneuvering a standard hospital type chair for 2 weeks when her knee was messed up makes me want to scream sometimes...

I suspect that was a run-on sentence. >_> <_< Oh well. Fortunately the last girl is somewhat open to suggestions, but honestly, she's constantly falling out of her chair, missing corners, etc... when she's in perfect health otherwise and the player is all "but that's how it works!" No, really, it's not... not for that sort of injury... Erm. And shall stop before I rant further now...

And somehow, even with the longassed sentence, I forgot to mention I am talking about a group of chat based RPG's I'm in.
