We have animals... most of them pretty much act like Earth animals, though they, somehow, have voice boxes capable of speaking in human tongues. The rest of the animals that don't speak our language seem to be calm with us. They're not quite skittish at all. I suppose I could blame that to most of us humanoids (excluding a few vamps) being vegetarians here.
The animals who do speak our language are more like familiars and friends than anything else. We don't keep animals in cages here, nor do we keep them as pets (though some of them make poor roommates I'll admit!)
Because of our relationship with animals inside we have a higher respect for the animals on Earth, even though they are not capable of speaking in our tongue. We actually don't eat meat (it's a little annoying to one of the vamps in the system), and we would never go hunting. We regard animals as equals.... especially the shape-shifters who understand quite well the instinctual part of being an animal (something it seems humans forgot).
